You seen this? - http://uk.news.yahoo.com/29012007/344/c ... crash.html

They're trying to lay the blame all on him now.
I'm sorry, but If you're traveling in a car at 280 mph and something goes wrong, wouldn't your first reaction be to slam on the brakes???

My first reaction would be to shout "Yikes" at the top of my voice before putting my hands over my eyes and wimpering like a girl.

I'd then pull myself together, cast my mind back to the safety briefing and adhere to the rules.

It will probably be repeated on BBC 3 about 45 times.

Enjoyed it. Well, enjoyed the show in general. Found the crash itself a bit disturbing.

It was excellent, funny as usual, I think the whole thing has aged Richard a bit, he looked just a little bit cheery, but I suppose almost dying dies that

I thought he looked tired, thin and worn. But anything more would have been an expectation too far I think.

Good point well made !
I think Viv might be in a mood, as all her posts today have a negative inflections, ie I hate Motor Things, the prodigy, her job ( hence wanting to pack fudge ) I don't need any more hormonal teens working for me thank you very much!

i didnt think the crash was all that spectacular to be honest. ok he was going quite fast but he only fliped over once, hardly exciting!

Well as he said he more or less stopped this car with his head. So ... the accident didn't have to be spectacular...

for the purposes of tv i think it should have been much more spectacular

It was strange to watch though. I mean I couldn't care less about the little fella really but knowing what happened it was just a bit hair raising.

Had the same feeling. Him talking the audience through a serious accident.

Stopped his car with his head was going a bit too far. Granted it was a major accident, but the idea of roll cages is to completely stop the driver from hanging out/ protruding out of the car.

The damage was done by his brain rocking about in his skull. I don't think there would have been any contact between his head and floor, unless the roll cage was poor..... but when you think that it's the "world's fastest car" you'd imagine the roll cage was exceptional.

Good to see top gear back though.

the crash was abit tame but they could hardly do a retake.
as for who ever said to put the breaks on, could you do it in 0.4 seconds, and even if you did the paracute wouldnt deploy in time to do anything. he was, however, quick enough to stop the engine.
glad to have him back
