Do others find that random people keep asking them if they are prepared for Xmas?

I find this every year..... those who ask invariably belong to the "Xmas Panic Brigade".

Yesterday, whilst at my local supermarket, I was asked the standard question "Are you prepared for Xmas?" Now, your's truly is unique. I (being a Xmas hater) have already distributed my cards by October, have all pressies bought & wrapped by November, then for me, Xmas is mentally already over. This year, my pressies are wrapped in "bug paper" : ladybirds, spiders, etc.... I was shopping for the paper before the Xmas paper arrived in the stores. Nevertheless, I'm sure the bug paper is going to go down a ranging storm.

Why, every year, is there such a panic and rush at the shops, etc., etc. by disorganised people who cannot think ahead, and wish other people to be equally disorganised, so they can feel better about themselves? :x

End of.

I agree, it is afterall just two days Holiday, I asked for a delivery yesterday and was aked whether I wanted it before Christmas!, well yes obviously as I have to run my factory and pay peoples wages for at least another two weeks before this two day Holiday !

So annoying

What does your factory produce? Is it of the "adult" nature?

Viv, you will be pleased to know that I don't have the remotest interest in whether or not you are prepared for Christmas, and wouldn't dream of asking! You however would seem to have a very specific interest in and opinion on the fact that I prefer to keep Christmas in December. Yes, it does mean I will tend to be shopping with large numbers of other people, no, it does not mean I am disorganised. Quite the opposite. Shopping successfully in December requires precise and accurate planning! Thankfully though, shopping is the least important part of Christmas. Sorry you find it so awful!
And if you buy next year's wrapping paper now, you could give next year's gifts in proper Christmas paper! Or is that thinking too far ahead?

And why not. Sounds very well organised to me, DemonHorse. Being "organised" is not the same as being whatever it is that Viv is being.

I live in Croydon. It is essentially one big shopping centre. So I do late night shopping in the days up till Christmas. I am terrible at present-buying. Also it doesn't feel like Christmas really, since we're not allowed decorations for fire safety reasons, and I can't watch TV, so I can ignore it most of the time.

People like to push stress to the back of thier mind. Cos Christmas is very stressful! and expensive! I'd rather let go of my money at the last possible minute thanks very much!

Not that i dislike the festive period. Just it's been warped by the shops so its about one thing to me it's family time and do enjoy it. but i talk to some people and they just dont realise what they sre saying.

Christmas is cool and its all about quality time with loved ones and friends.

Thanx for all replies (even Yudster's!! - I, like everyone else, have the right to speak and voice opinions on this lovely message board)..... And, at a basic level, my point is that far from being the season of goodwill, it is more often the season of illwill.... I'm not a scrooge... I just don't like being forced into the fake, commercial side of this time of year... roll on the Spring! O! And thanx for the paper idea, Yudster... now I have next year's paper !! Amazed I didn't think of that myself!! But then, being a female, what can you expect !!

Indeed you do, keep doing it - and glad to be of service!

By the way - if you are avoiding the "fake, commercial side of Christmas", how can you possibly be being forced into it? I agree that it can bring out the worst in people. But how far you let yourself get sucked in is a choice, and I guess it depends on your priorities. I do it, but on my terms and only to an extent. I think you are not too dissimilar!
