My mum does them too; I've never had it done myself, but she says their the best (and possibly safest) way to get de-waxed.

The best way to get ears cleaned out is to see the Nurse at the Doctor's surgery. that's what they are therefore. They have a machine for this purpose. I had it done just before the Xmas period.
