Its all in the application though - fact is, people are not loaves! And not only would I never accuse you of being cold and dead inside, I can't for the life of me think why it would be true. We live in a world of massive and varied opportunity - there are more choices available to everyone now than automatic parenthood.

You'd be surprised how many people still think that motherhood is a woman's 'destiny' and there's something wrong with women who don't want children. I had to pay a lot of money for a private sterilisation cos if you ask an NHS GP to refer a single, childless (!) woman aged 30 for one he'll laugh you out the building. Now I appreciate the NHS is overstretched and underfunded, but if you go to a GP and say you're pregnant, the resources are strangely all there...

**starts thinking about it**

**clears throat**
**starts singing**

"Congratulations and celebrations
Coz you've just told us your having a bay-bee
Congratulations and celebrations,
How long will it be till child number three?"

Thank you very much, I'm here all week - try the veal. Or the squirrel.

Good. I hope they carry on doing that. If you want unneccesary treatment you should have to pay for it.

For the existance of the human race yes? You know what I mean the medical treatment given to pregnant women could hardly be described as unneccesary.

Yeah, I do. But you see what i mean too - having a baby is a choice, not an imperative. By being sterilised, I'm saving the health service money they would have paid out for goodness knows how many prescriptions for contraceptive pills, implants, diaphragms or whatever.

Baby rhymes with birthday - surely?

They both have an "eh" sounding finish. And they both have two syllables.

Im thinking about this too much now.
