Same here! I think it's just force of habit - see food for sale, eat food. I think the same about theatre - we sell sweets, ice cream and also popcorn at family shows, and people insist on rattling packets and crunching all the way thru plays, it really annoys me, it's just bad manners when there are actors on stage. If I'm starving at the theatre I might chew a stick of gum to stave it off, but otherwise I just wait til I get out - I can cope, I'm not an animal. Normally when I go to the cinema I'll smuggle a Starbucks coffee in in my bag and that's all I need - popcorn or nachos would taste weird with a latte anyway.

It's the prices as well that don't make sense to me. I can't imagine a bag of popcorn has a lot of costs involved, the bag of Minstrels that Cat probably didn't give her much change outta £4 either. Buy it outside and smuggling it in is the way forward methinks.

Subway. Buy a Subway and smuggle it in.

Baw Lawks!

Forgetting about the shite there for two cotton picking* minutes - McDonalds is WAY > Subway.

*did we decide if that was racist? If so, suk it.

It's weird to me how much more expensive Subway is in the UK than here in the USA. I wouldn't pay that much for a sandwich, especially because the British seem to hate mustard. What is wrong with you?

I had a mediocre hummus sandwich today. It was mediocre because it was on a tortilla instead of lavosh. They also skimped on the hot peppers. Oh well.

That yellow stuff? It's better than nothing. I'm a fan of German mustard the best. Which reminds me of this old story from the Germanic Low Country where a guy got the words mustard and hemp mixed up and ended up defecating in the mustard pot and people ate it. There's more to the story, but there's the gist. (I had to translate it for a course I took at Uni.)

Do you Yankle Doodle Dandys need to go through the rediculous 10 page question and answer session before you get your lunch? I'm sure I've mentioned this before actually... hing oan...

Ah yes, from 2007:

Because I can never choose. I go in and ask for a "cheese sandwich".

"what size would you like sir?
"What? What size can I have?"
"you can have either a foot or six inches"
**avoids obvious joke**
"Ehh, I'll have the six inches then"
"and what sorta bread do you want?"
**groans**
"what kind of bread can I have?"
"you can have white bread, wheat bread, italian bread, honey oat bread, hearty italian bread, a deli roll or a wrap."
"can I have white, please."
"What filling would you like?"
"cheese"
"what sort of cheese"
**explodes**

etc etc etc

I've even tried just going in and pointing at something on the menu and saying "i want one of those", but I still get a hundred questions. Asda is a lot more straight forward.

I've been complaining about this for quite some time I see :)

DevilsDuck wrote:A. First time.....seems like hard work, but it gets easier (im talking about subway)

B. Does that make you the butch?

No, you being the bitch doesn't make me the "butch" as you romantically put it. There are many other things that make me that. The fact that you are the bitch just means that everything slots nicely into place, if you will.

kendra k wrote:Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Foots! I'm still miffed about them mustard. (Subways in the Netherlands have mustard.)

It was fun to read actually. Maybes we should have a revive-a-thread-a-thon. Like sitting looking through old photos.

Hmmmm, alright, seems fair!

Subway is lovely though... yeah it's basically an expensive sandwich, but it's a lovely sandwich and I've never had to go through any more questions than I do at, say, the kebab shop. I tell them exactly what I want at the start, including bread type and extra cheese, then the only questions are sauces and salad.

I have...they're overrated. But then I can only eat one type. If they'd been around when I'd been an omnivore I s'pose I might have a different opinion...

Also back to the cinema food, I've seen someone bring in a pot noodle before.

I went to the cinema not that long ago and this middle aged couple brought a picnic.

the fulls works, even yoghurts!

A pot noodle already made? or did they bring a flask of boiling water and add it in there?

Once I went to the cinema on a date and the guy got out something that shocked me somewhat, but it was not a pot noodle.
