Erm, yeah.... But, needing rain doesn't make the flooding of two routes into and out of a village any less annoying....

Then it's not the drought annoying you, it's the rain.

Nope, rain is fine. Its the fact we (the nation as a whole) are in drought, yet I (me, in a singular localisation of me-ism) am flooded in which is anoying me.

April having been the wettest(Read: the shittest) on record. No drought problems where I am, it's just been cold, wet and thoroughly depressing these last few weeks.
Not forgetting the snow we had at the start of the month.

My friend's dad is dying of cancer and seeing his facebook updates about it are making me so sad. I've met his dad a couple of times and they were just so alike, like the same person. I don't know whether part of why I feel so upset is cos it makes me think about the possibility of losing my own parents or what, but it's just horrible. :(

Sorry to hear that, Nic. I have a friend who has bowel cancer, it is a horrible thing - possibly because you know what's happening and want to help them beat it but know you're powerless to.

Annoying me today is something that pales into insignificance in the light of the previous posts, but its annoying me nonetheless - the pair of shoes that I bought a month and a half ago and which have been perfectly comfortable from day one have suddenly decided to give me a * great blister. Why? Why???!

Indeed. This is his facebook status - incidentally, also a great example of using facebook to let your friends know what's happening about a tough situation without turning into a cringeworthy attention-seeker:

"Please hope and pray for peace, grace or a miracle for my dad. He's in the hospice now, which is a lovely place, but his current physical condition isn't something a man of dignity should have to tolerate for long. Time for God to bring him home."

If that doesn't break your heart, I dunno what will.

That is very touching, and beautifully rounded off. The kindest thing you'd be able to do in the circumstances.

Depends - are they heels? In which case I can't imagine them being comfortable at all - but then again I'm a guy.

No, they're work shoes, flatties. I have to walk a couple of miles in them every day too - it HURTS!

My grandad is not well either, he can barely walk now. It's so sad because he was so healthy about 6 months ago. It's scary how quickly he's changed :(

Again, in comparison to Nic's posts, this is nothing but I had to see if anyone agrees. One or two of you will have seen the same on Facebook, so apologies for rantspam.

Family Guy is now terrible. I saw one of the newer ones on BBC3 and it was dire. Racist jokes, showing many minutes of a song video from the 80s to pass time and needless gore and swearing. It used to be so clever, now it just seems crude and forced. Whoever's writing in nowadays needs a right good kick up the jacksy.

Rain and floods. I am here at my desk today but I think I will end up being one of the few. Oooh, Finance Director just got here - he's usually in before me.

Just found out that Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol originally wrote Just Say Yes for Nicole Sherzinger and she recorded it for her debut album. Her version of it is absolutely awful and has now ruined one of my favourite ever Snow Patrol songs.
