Local council elections are a joke around here. One of the councillors up for re-election in my area is someone I know from church, and he genuinely can't understand why I didn't vote for him - and will not vote for him this time either - just because I happen to know him. I have tried to explain, but apparently if you know and like someone, you are supposed to vote for them even if they represent a party and policies which you don't agree with. If thats the way its done, no wonder we're in such a muddle.

No, I just mean people who moan and groan about voting, etc., etc. are always the ones who will never come f/ward and do owt themselves !! Just love to stand and whine!! You could start the "website bike" party (haw haw)!!

You got a different gist from Yudster's post to me - it seemed to me she wasn't moaning about voting in itself, she was explaining that she didn't understand why someone she knows should automatically get her vote.

This thread has veered weirdly off course.

But then so have a lot of others at the moment.

Out of interest has the thread had its desired effect (which you referenced in another thread somewhere)?

Well, I wasn't entirely serious about that. (Plus if I wanted to flirt with anyone here, even I can do it in a slightly more subtle fashion...) I was also just mildly curious about people, as I said in my initial post in this thread.

So, to put it bluntly Nicola, if you were going to, who would it be then? Just mildly curious, you understand.......!

Well, it's a shame that not everyone participated in the 'post your face' thread, that would make answering that question easier. but...

(and the status of people has no bearing on my answer as we're talking strictly hypothetically)...

based on appearance alone, and bearing in mind I haven't seen everyone, I'd go for Zoot.

based on other factors, it's Baggie.

You've made a good choice there Miss Red, a damn good choice......... I'm intrigued as to what "other factors" you based your decision on. Well done too Zoot man, hey, we could always two's up?

Our MP is David Laws, and on the couple of occasions I've gone to see him he's been quite decent and understanding.
Before him we had Paddy Ashdown, who I went to see on several occasions, often with positive results, and when I set-up my business (which I no longer have :( ) he asked for my card, from then on both he and his wife Jane were customers of mine.
Funny thing was, he had a bit of a posh accent at his surgeries, but in private he had a very posh accent, as did Jane (very jolly hockey sticks!), very straight talking and no-nonsense, and never looked down her nose at anyone.

Sorted, they said I could have 3 votes so I voted 1 for each paty, just the men you understand, true democracy !

Why can you do that then ? Mrs Boboff just did Labour as I told her that as a trainee nurse they would be best for her interest's.

Anyone else want to share >?

I voted Lib-Dem, but only because I used to go to school with the bloke who's standing. Probably not the best reason in the world to vote for someone, but he seemed like a nice enough bloke when I knew him.

I had 4 votes in the Town Council elections and there were 4 Labour and 1 Tory candidate.
