Reet - so i'm doing a project which involves me getting as much primary research as possible about a shopping mall aimed at over 18's...so i thought i'd throw the net out.

What kind of things would you like in a mall where nobody under 18 is allowed, and is aimed at you feeling relaxed, comfortable etc.

chav reducing methods also welcome...

The whole space should be no smoking.

Alcohol should only be allowed to be consumed on licenced premises, no hanging around with cans ets.

Other than that I don't know, I usually have a 6 year old in tow so I wouldn't be allowed in anyway!

Access for under 18s.

I don't generally go to 'malls' or shopping centres, and I don't really remember feeling tense or uncomfortable when I have been to one. However, I suppose the benches could be replaced by something with foam in them and there should minimal security cameras for privacy reasons. Also, I agree with Yudster about the smoking and alcohol.

Air conditioning. Shopping malls are always BOILING. Not that that's really related to the over-18s thing, but that's the first thing I thought of. I also agree about the uncomfortable benches, and there must be some way to make the floors less hard and slippy to walk on as well...

They should be called shopping centres and not malls. And what Yudster said.

I discovered this week that what was St George's Centre in Preston is now called 'The Mall'. Ugh.

Unfortunately a few have gone down this route, The Exchange Ilford, Liberty 2 Romford & Stratford Shopping Centre all are subtitled with the imaginative "The Mall" name, absolute pony.

I think there should be A/C. Check out my local shopping centre:http://www.drakecircus.com/
Tour:http://www.drakecircus.com/shops

May not be too great, as I'm under 18 and don't go there that often. However, went there today. Caters for everyone in my opinion

Assuming 'A/C' stands for 'air conditioning', why would being under 18 mean that you would think there should be air conditioning?

Old people can tolerate more fluctuations in temperature because they grew up during the war. Duh!

It's a shopping centre. Worse still, it calls itself a circus. What do you expect?

You should see the amount of knuckle dragging neanderthals in that place!

None of the can juggle though so its worse than a circus......and I cant remember the last time I saw a monkey in a boob tube at the circus.

I like Plymouth, but drakes circus is home to the Chav.....

To be fair, Devon's such an outstandingly beautiful part of the world, there's probably a by-law keeping them in the shopping centre so they don't ruin the rest of the area.

Sounds like the Southern equivalent of the Trafford Centre. Chav central in there. I hate it.

pah : the ideas i've come up with through much research [if anybody's interested] are :

japanese style sleep chambers
central display hall for seasonal markets
mobile phone application which enables you to find others (who enable you to see them) who you travel with
O2 priority scheme extension to ensure 100% mobile phone reception
exclusive clothing lines in major high street brands, [which ensure under 18s won't be wearing them]
and a central lounge which links to all the clothing stores (positioned around the lounge) which contains a bar, reading spaces, television etc.

...any good?
