Often i hear Dave and Dom repeating 'emm'e, emm'e [em-mmie]" in a nasally voice, and was wondering if anyone knew the origins of this, as i can't remember it ever being explained

If I remember I think it is a take off of David Guest from a fly-on-the-wall documentary about him. I'm sure others will have more details.

Ed was right. It was from that documentary following David Guest around. If I remember right, he spotted someone he knew outside, and was trying to get her attention by calling 'Amy! Amy! Amy!' over and over again.

I actually think the name he was saying wasn't Amy, it was his housekeeper and the name wasn't English, it just kinda sounded like Amy. Ymie perhaps. Or something along those lines.
