If they've taken your money (which they have done with a colleague of mine) and you've got a receipt. They haven't got a leg to stand on. It's yours Topher...... get a letter off to them quick smart. You'll get your dvds for 9.99.

Play don't take the money until they dispatch the order. They are quite within their rights to cancel all orders at £9.99, which is appears they are doing.

What they can't do is force people to pay the £99.99 if you ordered at £9.99.

Incidentally, this is a great way to catch out lazy petrol stations that put the price up on their system (and therefore at the pump) but not on the pole sign. Having already taken the fuel prior to paying for it they can hardly cancel your order!

No, I've checked my account, they haven't taken the money. It was worth a shot though.

Andy B wrote:Actually he's wrong. He doesn't have to sell it at all. Imagine it was a 52" Plasma Tv that had been marked up at 99p or better yet a Ferrari. If he sold that to you for the lower price he would be out of a job. A shop does not HAVE to sell you anything.

However if the price difference is negligble and above the wholesale price then most shops will honour the lower price in the name of good customer service.

I lived with 3 people studying law and I found the section on contracts and the sale of goods to be most informative.

Tis true, I stumbled accross a 42" HD TV on tinterweb for £49.99 (not £499.99 as it should have been) and promptly ordered 5.... Needless to say, the sale was not honoured based on the argument...

"Take me to court if you wish, but they will ask you if you really expected to buy a 42" HD TV for £50?"

If the transaction is complete (item in your hands, payment made with reciept) at an inaccurate price, then you're home free... And free to mock the cashier as you skip out of the store.

Not if the cashier was black, a homosexual, disabled or a vegetarian, then you would have your TV's seized under anti-terrorist laws. Just ask the Icelander's who did the same thing and had all there prawn party rings confiscated.

Play.com have, in the past, given out £5/£10 off vouchers as compensation for their screw-ups - it's worth a shot for that reason alone. I wonder if the quidco will track...

Already thought of that and gone through Quidco.

Indeed.
