How long have you been using apple macs?
You hold down Alt while you click to download it to disk as per usual.

Tom,

The best thing you can do is just do your best at writing, if people don't understand it then that might be saying something.
I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with Macs, so i'll have to let this one pass :D

Argh! You don't need to write your name after every post. We know who you are.
If you really need to make sure everyone knows who you are, put your name in your signiture rather than making everyone waste 2 seconds of their life reading what they think is part of your post.

I have a feeling not long will be wasted. If first impressions are anything to go by, his posts will be largely ignored.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Rusty. If first impressions are anything to go by, id imagine that his posts will be mostly ignored...

On a Apple MacBook laptop you need to scroll your pointer to the "Download button" then keeping your pointer finger on the button place a second finger on the trackpad and then left click, it will then give you a dropdown style list and you then need to click on "Download Linked File" or select "Download Linked File as" and select your target folder where you want to save the sound clip. If you select "Download Linked File" it will save it to your desktop just in case you start hunting around your folders once it has downloaded. Hope this post and my clock post is helpful Tom! :D

Hello IT, Have you tried switching it off and on again!

Tom if you are new to using a Mac you may like me, not have known one thing which a colleague of mine pointed out. When you use a Mac you need to regularly software update. It was all new to me, but it is a bit like microsoft patches and updates, It sorts out any known issues before you even know it. Go to The apple icon in top left corner and click on it and select "software updates" this takes a few minuets but is worth it to keep things in tip top condition! Reading this and my previous post it sounds like I am some sort of apple expert but to be fair I have been a relatively recent convert to Apple and like to share any tips tricks I have picked up on the way with others. Anyway was the Clock Answer useful?

Let the puns start rolling, I wonder who will put 2 + 2 together and come up with a Mac and coat related joke! :D

right spaceboy here is a question for you. i have sent my self a word document from my other laptop but that is done on word. When it opened it onto my Mac it opened it up into a piece of software called Microsoft Word, it had given me 29 day trial to use it. But when i bought my Mac i bought Iworks will i be able to open but Documents wrote in Microsoft Word on my own computer onto the software that i bought called Pages.

hopefully you can help ! Thanks

Personally I think Microsoft Word and office products are over rated! I am not familiar with Pages.08 on iWorks but looking at apple.com it should be able to open the document but depending on the computer it has been sent from the formatting may not be compatible that is where this alternative may be helpful:

The reason why you are getting the 29 day trial is because you need to buy Microsoft Office at around the £100 mark cheeper if you get the teacher or student pack but you do need to fall into one of the categories. If you want a free version of a office based app then search for openoffice.org which is a free 100% legal free-ware app for Mac, Linux and Microsoft PC's. OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute. You do need to have your start up disks which you got with your Mac. I would advise printing out all the how to setup pages which will explain setup of openoffice. When you do receive a document in a microsoft format it will convert it and similarly convert it back to microsoft format when you save it. I have been using it for years and because it is made by developers it will have less bugs and pieces missing from the software than you may think because the developers put there name to it and they want to get a good rep for there work. Openoffice also has the likes of Impress, Draw, Math, Calc, Base and Writer which is like MS Word. The apps all as far as I can remember come as a pack when you download and install, but I may be wrong. I originally found out about Openoffice on the BBC Click program on News 24. Hopefully this should sort you out. :D

P.S. Sorry for the delay and war and peace type reply but it was a bit more tech heavy than how do I click and save!

Enjoy! Tell me how you get on if you do decide to download it!

right ok ! phewww that was a lot to get around but i think i have got it. I am just going to finish updating all my software and then i will download that software you suggested above. There is just one more thing that i need to clear up, on your desktop ( that line of applications at the bottom ) how do i take off certain shortcuts of there e.g ichat.

Also thanks for that tip about the clock i have got one on order now.

Thanks again

When you have your mouse over the icon on the bar do the same and downloading something and click "remove from dock" also to adjust the size of the dock go to apple icon (top left) drop-down to "Dock" and then click on "Dock Preferences" there you can change magnification and other bits. :)
