Well sometimes when you investigate a thing, you find out stuff about the thing that makes you realise you were wrong about the thing and change your mind. I think.

Yes, I grew up. When I was a child I believed in all manner of things, like Father Christmas, the Easter Bunny, God, and as I've grown up I've discovered that these things (and many others) are simply not.

That is just so nasty, but what I would have expected of you when someone dared to question you!

How is that nasty? Admittedly I stated the obvious, but it appeared that you hadn't understood the fact that things change over time.

Things change over time: yep, I don't believe in Father Xmas any more either ! But I still believe a lot of other things are possible and they are! That's not immaturity.

Viv..... Console. I grow weary of your bickering (Yes Console it is bickering). Please, do all and sundry a favour and utilise the "foe" option on each other.

Then maybe we can live in a peaceful forum, where my jokes are appreciated and not hidden amongst three pages of "I know you are but what am I" style pap.

To be honest, I couldn't care less about persuading Viv (or anyone else) that my view point is correct while there's in incorrect. I would just love to understand why she believes what she does, as what she says seems quite contradictory to me.

Well, as far as the point of view goes console, I agree with you. The reason that Viv and others who believe what she does will be unable to give us an answer is because whatever she says will never satisfy us. If she was to come out with something that made us stop and say "wait a minute, she might actually be right here", then it would fundimentally change what we believe and I doubt that is going to happen.

Therefore the only answer that she can give that will keep us happy is something along the lines of: "actually you are right and I am wrong" or "I have faith in what I believe and what I say and that is enough for me".

Hence why I say that as long as everyone gives each other a bit of respect in this area, then everyone can get on fine.

It is unlikely to happen, but I would honestly love it to. It's one of those moments that redefine your entire life, and that would be a moment worth experiencing.

And one of these days... I'm gonna do it! :-) And he would be worth every second of it.

Technically, I've already had one of those 'redefining' moments, but I hadn't realised it at the time, and so I don't really recall how it felt, although I do know it didn't make me feel good afterwards, but a redefine it the opposite direction should.

Yup, and I have sat for hours with some of my mates who are right into this religious stuff talking to them about it because deep down I do wish that I had their faith and belief, but my "logical" side (as viv puts it) is too strong and is very unlikely to change.

However, I do admire people who can put so much trust into something that they need very little evidence exists. I would imagine at certain times of life, it would be very helpful to have a set of pre-determined guidelines of what to do.

this seems all rather tedious ?

A bloke goes in a pet shop and ask's for a wasp, the shop keeper says I am sorry we don't sell wasps, to which the bloke reply's "well you have one in your window!"

When will Console realise that it is entirely pointless engaging in any discussion or argument with Viv, as she clearly lacks any form of mental reasoning, or empathy, frankly she is thick as shit and stupid as Baldric. As Blackadder found out the only real way to reason with this type is to hit them very hard with blunt objects. ( I know this is Hypocritical and for that I sincerely apologise, but I hadn't argued with her for weeks, and just felt I needed to yesterday)

Perhaps we should all try that little bit harder, and there is the lovely foe option as Baggie suggests.

I displayed this. You're entitled to your opinion, of course. And the "foe" option isn't, I would say, at all necessary :-). Not for a second.

Problem with blanking out an individuals posts is that even if they are annoying and apparently pointless, they are still part of the thread, others will be referring to the poster you have blanked, and you can lose the gist of things. I'd rather be fully apprised of the content, even if it annoys me a bit.

Sorry if it's annoyed you! It wasn't meant to! I am doing my best NOT to argue, because I have been told off about it on a couple of occasions :-)

Sorry viv, that wasn't aimed particularly at you at all, just a general observation!
