Ouch, that's not good! I was kind of hoping that I might be able to connect a USB stick to my Sky box and just extract the audio somehow. But they would never make it that easy. I do have a smart TV which has a USB connection, but I doubt that would be able to do it either.

And it sounds like the quality of the download version is terrible, is that right? In which case I'm not sure what we can do going forward. I can set Stream Writer every morning, but it sounds like it may struggle every day.

Incidentally the edited version is still 2hrs15, which is a lot of content considering music, news and ads!

If I'm honest I'd like to do as little as possible outside of the editing unless it causes headaches for others, because editing the show takes the best part of an hour, and then exporting and uploading another half hour. But then would it be a waste of time me posting the link here only for someone else to have to copy the links to the Wiki.

Looks like I'm already on the user list actually. Although I'm not entirely sure how to add it in the correct format...maybe someone else should do it?

Anyway, here's the edited version:

Chris Moyles Radio X Breakfast Show Edited - 21092015

The full version will be a bit later because it's still rendering, and then also has to upload, both of which will take ages!

Yes, the catch-up stream is bad. I am planning on recording every show with StreamWriter and can share it with you. I'm going to automate that. Hopefully they've fixed the server issues, as the stream only went off once, and I imagine they bought more (for example) Amazon Elastic Computing thingies, so we should expect it not happen on the reg.

All the same, the more people recording, the better. We were spoiled with the quality of the iPlayer. I may look in to getting an FM tuner USB thingy, depending on how reliable their HQ live stream is.

I almost wonder if it's even necessary to have edited versions. There seem to be only two news bulletins, the ads don't seem to be as annoying as you'd think, and with the likes of Stone Roses and Rolling Stones it's hardly the Radio 1 playlist. I'll carry on doing it anyway, but you do wonder.

I always kept both full and edited versions of the R1 show, so thanks for doing those. If you can skip the music and ads, it's fine, but if you are listening where that's difficult, your edits can be really handy. It is a lot of work, though, so I can understand if you decide to shy away.

Yeah, good point. I'm not keen on whoever made that blogspot hotlinking to my recordings. You should take those down and use ian's.

In which case, should I not upload the unedited version which I have, and just stick with the edited version?

And yeah I wondered about the blogspot too, maybe they should just be on the wiki. Wasn't it mentioned in the other thread though? Or was it this one. Can't keep up.

For me, it's fine posting here in this thread, but not elsewhere and only the edited versions should go in the wiki.

If not, then I'll only be sharing the unedited versions privately. We don't want anyone getting sued for sharing music and such publicly.

How did you get the two different qualities to work together Ian? I tried to paste them together but the lesser quality part started to play at a rediculas pace.

well I don't mind doing it on riptiger just in case one doesn't work at least then got a full show copy

I think we were hoping that the edited versions could just be on the Wiki so as to not attract too much attention to them (even though I'm sure they would be alright with edited versions). Is that the case Neil?

Also, there are two versions of the full show on the Wiki so maybe they should be removed, and replaced with my edited one?

The lesser-quality bit was a different sample rate, so when you mix them together one plays at a different speed to the others. You would have to convert the sample rate of the lesser-quality bit to match the sample rate of the others before joining them together (my software does that automatically, but some do not).

I've lost track of all these threads, if people want to PM me the link to the edited one each day I don't mind adding it to the Wiki :)

Ian, can you provide me your direct MP3 link to the edited show and I'll replace it

What the hell's happening? Any ideas anyone?

I'll check my set up and post the results.

It looks like a problem with the connection to the server. I'd try another station, mebbe the URL is incorrect for some reason?

Here's how I set up the scheduled recording:

Paste in http://media-ice.musicradio.com/RadioXUKMP3 to the URL box, then:

And the log:

Code: Select all19:46:30 - Server - Connected to streamWriter server
19:46:31 - Server - Connection secured
19:54:43 -  - Connecting to media-ice.musicradio.com:80...
19:54:43 -  - Connected
19:55:10 - Radio X UK - Connection closed
19:56:59 - Radio X UK - Starting scheduled recording
19:56:59 - Radio X UK - Scheduled recording ends at 19:58:00
19:57:00 - Radio X UK - Connecting to media-ice.musicradio.com:80...
19:57:00 - Radio X UK - Connected
19:57:59 - Radio X UK - Stopping scheduled recording
19:58:00 - Radio X UK - Connection closed

I'm setting up an old (potato?) laptop to be dedicated to recording, but I'll still set my alarm so I can record manually on my usual laptop and see what happens tomorrow!
