Of course, we need to make sure to find the stream if and when it changes names, so that first day may be tricky!

This is how you record live apparently.

Edit: When i say rip off, I mean layout/window size. Obviously BBC never really done the same colour scheme afaik.

That's the standardised Radioplayer design that the BBC and (the majority of) commercial stations use.

Saw this posting on XDA and it's a few years old now, so not sure if it would still work, but looks surprisingly simple if it is still the case:

Edit: Balls sorry apparently doesn't work anymore.

Or, just use a free app on your laptop?

Well yeah I could do but I don't want to leave my laptop on all day.. I leave the house at half 7 so I can just keep it recording on my phone and press stop when the show is over at 10.

ianpwilliams wrote:Are you able to shutdown the computer afterwards, or would that require another programming for a scheduled shutdown?

You can schedule a shutdown in windows with the following command:

Code: Select allshutdown -s -t [seconds]

Where [seconds] is how many seconds before it shuts down. If you allow for a bit of overlap, a seconds value of 13500 would shut it down after 3.75 hours

There's also the AAC+ stream, which is only 48kbps compared to the MP3 stream of 128kbps, but because it's newer and more efficient than MP3 has comparable sound quality at a lower bitrate, which means smaller file sizes if you're recording full shows. Might be worth considering but it's up to you whether you think the quality is as good or not, and I presume won't work with that direct MP3 editor that someone posted earlier.

Do we know what quality the mp4 direct download is (ie downloading the show after broadcast) compared to recording the mp3 stream? As much as I'd like to record it live I don't have much time in the mornings to be booting up, starting a recording, and then scheduling a shutdown.
