(failing that, can someone tell me what program to use to do it myself)

No one willing to suggest how I can do this myself? An application name is all I need. I've never been able to find a decent RealMedia -> mp3 converter that costs nothing, spyware free and simple to use.

Go on, one of you out there must be able to point me in the right direction...

You could use the Listen Again feature to get to the part of the show that you're after, play it and use a nice little app called Audacity to record the audio (set the source as your stereo mix), then export to whatever format you want - mp3, wave etc.
