The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

(Good lord, it's been years since I've signed up here)

Anyway, I noticed this morning about Chris Moyles' little snip about Scouting for Girls ("...and that was Scouting for Girls remix of their first single, entitled Heartbeat...") and I laughed heartily.

If you agree with Moyles, then you may be interested in a little song I recorded a few weeks ago. It's about how terrible the band are, and it's entitled "Scouting for Talent". It's available on my Myspace page if you wish to give it a listen.

Scouting For Talent

I may go back to lurking now.

*scares of the masses*

EDIT: Seven years since I've signed up. Seven! Surely that's a record?

Way too much airplay for 'Elvis', followed by the shite we heard this morning. Speaking of shite..Madonna didnt get much of an airing this morning - her new track was played before 7am. Ha.

Hello there. I actually think you've been here longer than me, which seems to be quite rare nowadays so I hope you stay around.

I agree with your sentiments and I like your parody. If it weren't for the slightly bad language on it, I'd think Moyles may give it a play.. but, since it does say "shit", they probably won't be arsed to edit it out.

Carling Acadmey, Newcastle - Sold Out! :D
I think their one of those bands, that doesnt have a bad track on their album, i like them all.
Well, we'l be hearing alot more of them, with them headlining at the Big Weekend. Radio One must like them if they used them to launch the event. I suppose they hit the target audience...

If they're anything like the ones they've released, that's because they're all basically the same. You'd do better to buy a single and play it on loop.

That's true of a lot of the newer inide bands these days. They are musically average to poor and all sound the same - not just all their songs the same, but they sound the same as each other. Indie music has become a pathetic shadow of what it was a few years back.

Funniest post ever.

What indie bands from a few years back would you recommend? *looking to boost his record collection*

Thanks :D

Let me rephrase.. What im mean is, the style of music and intruments used are the same in all the songs, but the tune, beat and lyrics are totally different. When i say all the songs, i mean jsut Scouting For Girls, not Indie Music in general. For anyone whos got their album you'l know theirs a complete difference in 'Its Not About You' and 'Keep On Walking'.

Well, thats what i think anyway, could be wrong. But at the end of the day, i dont think theirs such a thing as bad music, its just not that particular persons type of music. (Prepares to be mocked xD)

Futureheads, Incubus, Goo Goo Dolls.. there are one or two that are currently good, I'd recommend We Are Scientists.

I absolutely disagree.

To a degree you're right, this is all very subjective.

Well on Scouting For Girls MySpace, their classed as Indie/Pop/Aucustic (Cant Spell 8O )
I would class SFG, The Hoosiers & The Feeling as more Indie Pop.
Indie's more Keane, Kasier Chiefs & The Klaxtons xD

What do people think about Alphabeat - Fasanaction, i think chris played it this morning. I love it personally, but then a few of my mates cant stand it.

I hate that I love it.

As I've said many times on here, Scouting for Girls, Pigeon Detectives, Reverend and the Makers, the Wombats and generally pishy bands like that are all equally shite. As for Topher's recommendation of Incubus, I second that. Great band, but go for albums like Morning View, Make Yourself and S.C.I.E.N.C.E., but ignore Light Grenades, that's not so good.

Gonna have to disagree about the Wombats especially. They are the best new indie band to emerge recently. Live they are absolutely amazing, been to see them twice.
