The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Is the fact that he gets million of listeners that there isn't any better out there and the fact that radio 1 is so popular?

I find he's geting worst and not in the same league as Mills and Coxy. At least they are entertaining to listen to.

Personally I have to listen as it's in my office but would prefer to listen to virgin.

I can't believe he was like that to richard hammond to day, and to be fair he took it very well. Moyles says he's only joking but surley joking about somebody nearly dieing isn't funny or entertaining?

Prehaps it's me .... I'm just getting soooo bored of the show.

Horses for courses, personally I can't understand why anyone would prefer Cox or Mills to Moyles.

steve walker wrote:there isn't any better out there

I agree with that, but not (as you seem to think) because no one else is any good, more because Moyles is bloody good.

I found the bits of the Hammond interview I heard thoroughly entertaining and Hammond himself has been joking about it in the past; I think Hammond comes across as having a decent sense of humour, I think he saw the funny side. Anyway, if you have a near-death experience, are you going to mope or avoid talking about it for the rest of your life?

Richard Hammond took what very well? It was nothing to what he gets from Clarkson and James May. Hammond has a sense of humour (unlike some, it seems) and doesn't confuse being a celebrity with being special. As to whether Moyles is better than Mills or Coxy - well, it depends what you like, doesn't it? I like Coxy, many can't stand her. I can't bear Scott Mills, but he has a large and loyal fanbase. So what?

That's fair I suppose, everybody has different tastes and I respect yours.

Two points though

One. Moyles isn't that good!! honestly just listen to different stations and shows. Mills is funny and Coxys stories are also very funny and both there shows isn't to make their egos bigger. But like I say I respect your views, I don't see it like that.

Two. Even Rachel told Chris to stop saying the word "dead" and going on about him nearly dieing. There's being funny and humourous without slogging it to death ( :D )

Scott Mills is funny. But the show format is terrible. Really unlistenable to. Cringe worthy radio at times. Still it's aimed at kids, which is why I don't like it.

How old are you Steve Walker if you don't mind me asking?

Hammond needed a sense of humour he's not actually going to walk out is he? I'm just making a point I suppose I made it on the wrong site as your obviously blinded by Moyles.

Can't bear Scott Mills??? Now who's not got a sense of humour!!!

Entirely subjective!! But carry on...

steve walker wrote:honestly just listen to different stations and shows.

I have, and I've found that the only show I can actually listen to now is Moyles'. I used to listen to Mark and Lard (when they were still on), but I've never really been able to get into any other shows.

steve walker wrote:Mills is funny and Coxys stories are also very funny and both there shows isn't to make their egos bigger.

Once again, entirely subjective, and I can't stand listening to either of them. I don't even bother trying to listen to Mills any more; I don't like to listen to his show, so I don't.

steve walker wrote:Even Rachel told Chris to stop saying the word "dead" and going on about him nearly dieing. There's being funny and humourous without slogging it to death ( :D )

Rachel also tells Chris to play a record constantly, it doesn't mean it would a good idea to.

steve walker wrote:I'm just making a point I suppose I made it on the wrong site as your obviously blinded by Moyles.

If by 'blinded by Moyles' you mean that we like him, then yes, we do, which is probably the number one reason we're on this Chris Moyles fansite. But as for actually being 'blinded' I don't think we are, we're actually quite famous (infamous) for disliking numerous bits of the show (although it's not necessarily all true, and certainly not all of us).

Scott Mills?

I think I'm setting myself up here but I'm 37!

Show format might be slightly all over the place but in many ways that's why is good. Moyles format isn't the greatest, lack of music and uncomfortable rantings also make it cringe worthy radio. I'm not on here to cause any agruements it's just I think I'd had enough of Moyles and wanted to says something as I think he's been really poor since he came back from holiday.

Mills show aimed at Kids? I don't think it is!

Great post Console!! Very impressive.

Do you listen to Chris Moyles then switch radio 1 off??

Very blinded I'm afraid on the Moyles front, but that's OK I'm blinded by my family and cold beer on a warm day, nothing wrong with admitting it.

If we were all the same wouldn't life be boring!! I just can't see some of yours. sorry.

As quote-a-thons go, it was quite impressive, but there was a little * up with his first few quotes, and it wasn't a titled quote-a-thon, so 7 out of 10.

If you feel that strongly about listening to R1, I suggest you speak to your management about it! I find Moyles to be very funny as high as 9 times out of 10. I also love Coxy, and like the Mills very much!! R1 is worth its weight in gold: great DJ's, great laughs every day, a very positive energy, bang on the button when it comes to new music, etc., etc. There simply aren't any limits. And that is.... that.

And no, there isn't any better out there.

I actually like the lack of music; too much music stops some great conversations and rants developing. The rants can also be some of the best parts of the show, whether they're about buses, the press or just how much breakfast costs, they're almost always very entertaining.

steve walker wrote:I think he's been really poor since he came back from holiday.

I think he hit the ground running after the last break. Usually it takes a couple of days for the team and the show to settle back down into a good rhythm, but every show last week was great in my opinion.

steve walker wrote:Mills show aimed at Kids? I don't think it is!

I always got the impression it was; mid-late teens I thought.

steve walker wrote:Do you listen to Chris Moyles then switch radio 1 off??

I used to keep it on and listen to Whiley in the background, but as I just listen to my recordings of the show now I suppose I just turn it off, although it's actually just the recording ending.

steve walker wrote:Very blinded I'm afraid on the Moyles front, but that's OK I'm blinded by my family and cold beer on a warm day, nothing wrong with admitting it.

I'm not blinded, I just don't like anyone else; Moyles is pretty much the only reason I listen to the radio; I never used to listen to it before, so you could say that Moyles has infact opened by my eyes, not blinded them.

steve walker wrote:If we were all the same wouldn't life be boring!! I just can't see some of yours. sorry.

Can't see some of my life? I would hope not. What's with all the double punctuation by the way. I had parodied it above, but you didn't seem to notice it.

What exactly is Radio 1s weight?

Viv 113 wrote:like the Mills very much!!

Sorry Viv there is!!

I love listening to Radio 1 except Moyles (sometimes) and Edith.

Moyles rants get to me and I find it uncomfortable to listen to sometimes. But I have to listen to the show as the rest of the office don't mind him.

Edith is a great TV presenter but very annoying on the radio. The rest of the office agree and that's when we switch. We listen to Radio 2 (Steve Wright is great with good features even Moyles says this!), Virgin (Suggs isn't the greatest but is comedy listening) and various other stations.

NO, there IS NOT! Trust me. I can't imagine why the rants get to you, because Moyles never truly seems to take most of them seriously. If he did, his team would not work with him. Radio 2 is a pedantic, droning bore.

Isn't that fact alone enough to convince you that Moyles is quite good; if you're the only one in your office that doesn't like him then maybe you're in the minority and he is actually entertaining and enjoyable to listen to.

Moyles has a great deal of respect for Steve Wright, amongst other a lot of other radio presenters.

Spot on. Get rid of Laura, and de-camp it a bit and his show would be great again. Like it used to be. But I still prefer Moyles for his edge, his anger, his irreverence and his rudeness, which gets close but never tips too far into offensiveness for me. His show has a spontaneity which Mills will never have (and would kill for), Moyles is able to think on his feet better than anyone I have heard on the radio (and I'm older than you Steve, so I've got a lot to compare him with) and he holds his audience better than anyone. That said though, if you don't like him, its rotten that you have to listen! Do what Viv said and see if you can get it changed, at least for a couple of days a week.

The only thing I like about Steve Wright is the 80's stuff booted in, which I sometimes like to listen to. Other than that, he is a droning bore. And the "old woman" feature he has... I mean, PLEASE.

Actually Console, I've often wondered. What do you do for a living?
