So Mark Goodier is leaving radio 1 after 15 years. They claim that it isnt anything to do with dwindling listener figures, just that he decided to not renew his contract. They say that with his departure they will revamp the top 40. Now theres nothing wrong with the Top 40, it doesnt need changed. I hope this doesnt mean that non playlist chart hits dont get played as I always find it highly amusing hearing Daniel O Donnel and Def Leppard being played. Goodier usually fills in for Ken Bruce on Radio 2 anyway. But replacing him with Scott Mills is not the answer. Get rid of that stupid backstage program with Rajesh Merchant Of Venice at 3pm. Thats what is losing the listeners. Its a cast iron fact that people will listen on to the Top 40 if something on before it is good. Remember Collins & Maconie Hit Parade, that was good. Just do that again but put Mark & Lard on it. It was like a version of Jukebox Jury if people dont remember it.

Mark Goodier- excellent job filling in for bruce the other day.....

Honest J-ho's bookies are open for business

2-1 F Scott Mills
4-1 Dave Pearce (used to arm wrestle Clive Warren for it years ago)
10-1 Tongy (good voice- but will he give up his djing)
12-1 Emma B (first female host......hot 30 countdown has a female host)
16-1 judge jules (that's shakira going down more times than a cheap ho)
20-1 and my personal fav---- Westwood (going down 6 places the mother lovin hubbard bigboy gareth gates who's down to not number 8 not number 12 but 16 baby and he's blowing it big. now drop the bomb. Number 16 "oooooooooooooooooooooooh my love....)

Scott mills- bound to get coxy's show within the year

but if Mills got the breakfast show and the top 40, that means 6 days a week. I suspect that they might get a newbie in, lets say a poach from XFM.

The most chart friendly and voice over friendly voice is mills. however theaksson does get some of the scraps that goodier and fox fail to have. start it at 3 have a backcaht/hit parade/backstage/back passage with scott mills type programme then have compys so foxy can shove his inaccurate chart up his inflated arsehole

When he fills in for Richard Allinson he is good but I do like Richard Allinson.

Why don't Radio 2 just cut out the crap between 7.00pm (bar Album Chart show which is good) and 10.30pm

I think that the entire Radio 1 weekend schedule needs to be looked at. Weekdays I'll happily listen to any of the shows (with possible exception of coxy on breakfast), but I never tune in on a saturday (granted, I'm working and may tune in if I wasn't), and I don't listen to any sunday shows (apart from sometimes the Sunday Surgery).

I think they should ask me to do a weekend show. That'd sort their ratings problem out altogether, by getting rid of them completely. If there's no ratings at all, then there's none to worry about, right?

radio 1 at the weekend was really good, but now it is just rubbish, is it just me or KC really bad with her monotone voice and unintresting and innane ramblings!!!

Cheers

how much more of KC will we hear on Radio 1 considering she is doing the breakfast show on 1xtra?

I'm really happy 1xtra has finally launched, maybe now Radio 1 will get rid of most of the urban crap cluttering the schedules. Launch a dance music digital station (1pos, anyone?) which takes the dance crap off the station and I'll be over the moon.

I don't listen to the Top 40 any more, so I don't really care what happens to the programme. I don't listen to ANY radio on Saturdays, as it's all awful and for the most part so is TV; Sundays I stick to local stations as they play my kinda music after 7pm.

As for KC, well I'm just bitter because I can't now walk into Radio 1 and get a show using my nickname. - jc

i really dont see the point of digital radio. the majority of people would only get it on their tvs and who the hell wants to do that. you would think the BBC would learn from loss making ventures in the past. Unfortunately Radio 1 will not become an Usher free zone much to the horror of Mark & Lard.

Radio 1 has failed to capitilize on the phenomena of the moment: School Disco. Their approach is of a snobby stand offish attitude and thats precisely why its losing listeners. Granted Scooter and Flip & Fill are shite but the whole reason they get in the charts is thru lack of airplay on radio but an influx of plays on discoes.

I like the concept of DAB personally; all the technology needs now for mass adoption is affordable, portable DAB radios, and that's already happening with one or two <£100 sets released recently.

How would Radio 1 capitalise on School Disco, though, without actually hosting such events? - jc

Is it only me that thinks Moyles would get first refusal of the Breakfast show - we all know he wants it.

Yeah, it is a prime slot although he'd lose at least a couple of his drivetime listeners. I don't get up before ten as it is. - jc

ive heard that cox is getting late drive - don't know where the gap toothed gypsys going. mills would be an obvious choice for breakfast (seeing as he is on there more than cox), but moyles may want it as it means he doesn't have to rush to get to his tv show.

dab is class - used it for 8 months now and for 50 quid with no subscription charges you can't ask for more. 1xtra is an ambitious project - it's essentially a national legit pirate radio station, and not a dumping ground for the murder inc fodder we are being fed on all radio at the moment (ja rule, ashanti, fat joe, mary j blige).

I hate Murder inc, shit music and now my favorite rapper Nas has now joined them

The thing that's pis-s-ed me off about 1xtra is that ever since it launched it's overtaken newsbeat.

It's always "Joe Bloggs from Radio 1's sister station 1Xtra said this, said that, said the other" blah blah blah.

If I wanted to know what the 1Xtra presenters were saying, I'D LISTEN TO 1 BLOODY XTRA.

Rant over.

I was thinking exactly the same.

Note I got another email to add to my collection today from Goodier - he was on Radio 2 and I emailed asking for a name of a song and he emailed back. He's very polite and even said to me thanks for listening to the show.
