I got this idea from another thread, but let's say, hypothetically speaking, what would you do if Moyles moved to a commercial radio station?

Most people agree that radio adverts are amongst the most annoying things EVER, and often is reason enough to put people off of commercial stations. So my question to you is, if he did go to a commercial station would you suffer the adverts every ten minutes and still listen, or would you cease your following of the big man.

No clever "I'll just listen to the pod cast, or "listen again" functions so it wont matter". A simple yes or no. If you listen now, would you still listen if he went commercial.

Thank you for visiting my poll.

I don't agree with either of those options. I don't like the idea of calling you 'Mr'.

I have voted no - because I don't think the Chris Moyles I like listening to would ever ever consider going to commercial radio. I don't think he would put himself in the position of having to kow-tow to the money, which is the reality of any enterprise funded in that way - I wouldn't listen to a dumbed down Moyles, it would be too sad.

Well I can't change it now, apologies, how about if I call you Mr now, then you'll owen me one, and therefore can vote. Is that ok Mr Topher?

It's an acceptable compromise.

Moyles could drag a tinpot local station outta the grime. Doesn't mean I'd necessarily follow him though.

Point is that in the commercial sector, he wouldn't be able to do that because he wouldn't be allowed to do his thing - it would upset the money too much. Commercial radio is at the mercy of the advertisers, who insist on catering for the lowest common denominator. Moyles doesn't do that.

I agree with Yudyud, but I would prob still listen.

In my opinion, he is the best at what he does. The adverts would just wash over me I think.

Ok Yudyud, I get your point, but hypothetically, what if the format, feel of the show and people were EXACTLY the same as it is now, only with adverts in between. That's what I'm on about.

But its not real, why do you need me to comment on a scenario which which not merely WON'T happen, but actually can't possibly happen?! But - actually no, adverts are that annoying I really don't think I would listen, even to someone as good as Chris. Unless he was allowed to take the piss out of them which would be funny - but he wouldn't be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could the show be recorded and then, when played, have the adverts fast-forwarded (ala DVR's)?

Yes - but my point is that "hypothetically" doesn't actually work because its - well, its hypothetical! I can't say how I would react in a situation I know to be hypothetical, because any judgement I could make about my potential actions would have to be based in some form of tangible realism. My reactions and responses depend on the circumstances - if the circumstances cannot possibly exist, then I have no basis on which to gauge my possible reactions and responses.

Crikey yudyud, I'm not some evil villain asking you to pick a child to save, it's just a simple poll...... you don't have to vote if you don't want to.

In that case, the answer is: I don't know. There are very few adverts in my life and I don't know how much the introduction of them would affect the show; needless to say that it's a bad thing, but whether or not they're annoying enough to stop me listening, I don't know. Now, if the ability to fast-forward/skip these adverts existed (oh wait, there are ways...) the situation becomes a far simpler one, an obvious yes, as everything would be practically the same, so there would essentially be no reason to stop listening. However, in you restricted hypothetical situation, I cannot answer with any certainly because it relies on knowledge which I, myself do not posses.

Don't forget Moyles came from a commercial radio background.

I reckon a commercial station should let Moyles take over thier breakfast show for a day and we can see whether this 'hypothesis' can be reality for a short time. Then we can decide whether we would listen.

As annoying as the commercials are, I'd still listen to him and the team. My mornings wouldn't be the same otherwise.

Most definitely, I only listen to Radio 1 when Chris and Dave are on, was the same in the afternoon days, can't stand the other presenters. I don't consider myself a Radio 1 listener but rather a Chris Moyles Show listener.

I moved over to listen to Chris from a local radio station hat played commercials all the time. It's really annoying when the adverts cut across the banter. The presenter was great and I really enjoyed listening to him - even went in to help out - but got sooooo fed up with the commercials that it wasn't enjoyable any more! So a no vote from me!
