The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Re: car park catchphrase this morning! Why do people have to 'phone in and pretend to be something they are not? A guy 'phoned in claiming to be from Paisley this morning, complete with exaggerated Scottish accent (which chunky Moyles noticed immediately !). Then... it seemed he wasn't in a truck either, but just using sound effects for the horn ! Moyles dealt with it v. well by giving him the "sound effect" of the 'phone going down on him.

I hate the time-wasters.... The Sunday Surgery has had these kind of people in the past too... people who have rung in pretending to be in need of help... and haven't been, but just have wanted their 15 seconds of "on-air fame". It's v. tiresome, and in particular, on The Sunday Surgery, stops people genuinely in need of assistance getting the help they need.

You find it everywhere really Viv.

You get it in here too, people who just start tons of pointless thread topics, just to get replies, when usually the subject matter is pretty dull.

It's just the way things are I'm afraid.

And you also get people like you... who just decide to be nasty just for the sake of it.

I AM after all covering something that was in this morning's show, so that people can say what they think. This IS, after all, THE POINT of the message board. end of.

Sunday Surgery is far from being either the best or the only place to go for help on the kind of things they cover, so I reckon there is a large element of "wanting to be on the radio" for the vast majority of the callers there. But they aren't doing any harm.

I wasn't being nasty at all, and even if I ever do be nasty, it's deffo not for the sake of it, there's always a reason.

Loads of people spell it with an 'a', gets on my tits that. Also people who say 'should of' instead of 'should have'.

Ooooh, I'm with you there........"bored of" instead of "bored with" is another one. "Fed up of" instead of "fed up with" - I could go on. I do find it worrying that news reporters and other supposedly trained journalists are using those. They might be trained, but it clearly isn't in English. But I don't mind really, I was just halfheartedly trying to wind Baggie up, for no real reason other than that he is there. And he won't mind *smiles*.

*Boboff smiles that little wry smile at the corner of his mouth, in that cute devils advocate kind of way, winks to Baggie boy to indicate it's his turn*

To bring this half arsed thread back on topic, and then throw it madly off again, I would like to say that:

Im from Paisley! :D

I didnt think anyone would have heard of it, so I just say im from Glasgow.

Paisley is where that textile pattern you always find in Marks and Spencer's pyjamas is from, isn't it? And boboff, you don't ever need to apologise to me.

Er, back on topic...

You've answered your own Q really Viv. People call up cos they're after their 15seconds of fame (and yes I know the original expression is 15mins, but these days it really is more like 15secs). We may all agree that it's a stupid way of achieving this, but such is life. The bloke from Paisley probably found it hilarious that he was on the radio, and will boast about it to his mates. The fact that he said "see ya" just before Moyles hung up on him indicated that he even expected that to happen and didn't particularly care.

Its a reasonable comment you've made about the show I just dont know why the whole thread has to have a Mary Poppins feel to it, now thats tiring.

But well done to you Viv, these time wasters need to be brought to justice God-diddly-darn-it!

Lol - I was told we either have the highest murder count per head or the highest drug problem per head.

Or both, I forget.

I live in the nice part tho.
