The thing is with these "stupid people" as you say, they're not the ones who have the sense to make the millions, it's the managers, marketing team and sponsors who are responsible for all the money rolling in.

i think he has made conbsiderably more money than jade. at least he has some kind of talent. or at least did have. maybe he was born with it, and in which case its lucky, but you have to work at it and practice for hours everyday. if he had spent more time doing homework than practicing free kicks then ok he would be a bit smarter and have a few more GCSEs but wouldnt be as good a footballer, and maybe not have gotten such a high profile, therefore not getting himself image deals and sponsorships etc...

I just fail to see why footballers deserve the ridiculous amounts that most of them get for doing something most able-bodied people can do, especially when they get in a week what most people, even high-earners, earn in a year.

That said, I respect them both for making that sort of money the way they have and if I could have done the same, I would have. I wouldn't have deserved it either.

It's because people are willing to pay ridiculous money to watch football and to get the official merchandise. If people were to stop doing that then I'm sure the wages would be down to reasonable levels pretty quickly. For now though it's just a matter of business economics and supply and demand; there's a high demand for footballers with great skill that are in short supply.
