The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I have not listened much, but when I have its been very poor.

Far too many pre records, far too much * ups, far too much highlights, far too poor quality...

One Night With Laura special on now, why would anyone want to listen to that?!

5 Live's Phil Williams is on XFM... now thats a good listen.

I'm slowly growing away from Radio 1. I couldn't even be bothered to listen to Moyles Christmas show on Listen Again anymore.

I know, I got home today and checked the Radio 1 website, and saw it up there, and thought WTF?! 'One Night with Laura Special' What stupidness.

Excuse the long post.

The mainstream output of Radio 1 is absolutely dier, and has been for months. It's partly due to my musical taste but I just don't listen anymore. There are so many better alternatives.

I'm also wondering whether this will be the year I finally grow away from Chris's show. I still think he is an incredible presenter, but the show in it's current format does little for me. Still funny when I tune in, but there is nothing there that makes me think "oh I must tune in tomorrow". I used to be gutted a few years ago if I missed any link of any show, but now I listen to probably an hour or so a week live, and then maybe the odd half hour on Listen Again if I'm bored.

Listening to a bunch of 30 somethings when I'm 19 naturally isn't as interesting as listening to a bunch of 25/26 year olds, when I was 13/14. Especially with features such as Celebrity Tarzan and the same items as two years ago - unfunny jingles, football tickets, Ramble, Tedious link at the same time every day, with a half arsed competition for some Radio 1 guff at primetime.

It doesn't help that the team hasn't been freshened up in anyway. Most of us tend to agree on Rachel and Carrie I think, why on earth Aled isn't producing full time I have no idea. Dom is immense and Dave has his moments, but the show has become stale in it's current format (for me).

To anyone who says "if you don't like it, don't listen" - I do like it because it's still a great radio show. But Moyles was so good five years ago that this just seems weak in comparison.

Hopefully I'll be proved wrong this year!

I was thinking that too... Although I'd quite like to make the big 10 years of listening which would happen next year!

I'm also listening to it less and less. Mainly because my new MP3 player has utterly poor reception for Radio 1 for some reason, compared to my last. However I hardly find myself using Listen Again like I used to either. I still download and listen to the weekly podcasts every week, but I use this site - well the Sound/Video requests sub forum to find any funny clips. I'm 31 btw, and have always enjoyed listening to the show but I miss quite a few things, namely - CPC, Longman appearing every now and again, funny guests - not boring hollywood gits (puff frikken daddy?), and lovely Joycelin to and Aled to name a few.

I hardly ever listen to radio 1 live because someone else always decides what they want to listen to on the way to school and i never get to have a say. i have tried listen again but its not the same because im always thinking about something else. thank goodness for podcasts! and also the best bits that are posted on this website. so much better than having to sit through all the dullness of when they start moaning about something or other

too much james king over christmas. he is not a dj, he is a movie reviewer. if there are shows devoted to film on radio 1, why are there not shows devoted to sport? do you get my point? that is why edith's show between after 2 o clock now is so poor.

Radio 5 (606) is totally dedicated to sport, there are no movie radio stations. So radio 1 should have a film show on a regualr basis.

He was only on once - still too much some might say, but still a bit harsh.

Radio 1's problem at times like Christmas is that too many DJ's are now celebs or personalities rather than actual DJ talent, hence they are always too busy doing one thing or another to broadcast live at Christmas or at all. I was suprised JK & Joel weren't on more during the actual day (not early breakfast Mytunes) live like last year.

Why, when it's a station supposedly dedicated to music? I understand why they have film reviews but surely there is no need for whole shows.

Well, I've not really heard a great deal of radio over the holidays due to being away visiting etc, but I have listened to Nihal (sp?) a bit last week and this week and I have to say, who on earth ever thought he would appeal to Moyles listeners??? Is it just me, but he seems as though he is just SHOUTING the whole time, and never has anything actually interesting to say - I actually turned over the R2 this morning, and began to think that Richard Allison was quite good!

Richard Allison is good, and he's got a girls name for a surname, which makes him alright in my book....... just like Dick Tracey.

Agreed though... Nihal is dreadful. I'd rather listen to Gordon the Gopher DJing than him.

Nihal is doing his best, but he isn't up to presenting the breakfast show. He sounds the same as so many others.

No silly, they've got different surnames for starters, unless one changed their name in a gay marriage?

Who knows.
