The definition of a fruit is:
"The developed ovary of a seed plant with its contents and accessory parts, as the pea pod, nut, tomato, or pineapple."
This means that by necessity it contains its seeds inside itself. The actual "fruit" of a strawberry is what is known as a "swolen receptacle" and is actually the part of the plant underneath the ovary. It swells with a food supply for the pips (which are ACTUALLY the fruit) when the pips themselves reach maturity and are ready to be distrubuted. Its secondary function is to attract animals to eat it, dispersing it even further afield than would normally be possible.
Sorry, Rachel, but NO fruit has its seeds on the outside.
