The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

What do people hear think about the way this site is run and policed ?

Is the problem with Internet sites that they are run by geeks, with little social interaction skills ?

What could be done to improve the site ?

Very interested to view peoples opinions on this.

In my very humble opinion.

I genuinly think people take this way too seriously. If someone on here calle me anything, I wouldn't let it upset me at all because I know that in general I am ace.

The bickering that goes on is sometimes fun to read, and if people don't want to bicker/argue with someone, then don't reply. As simple as that.

There is too much "closing down" of non-Chris Moyles related chat, which I find odd because the forums are named "general" and "lets get ready to ramble" both names implying that you don't have to stick to Chris Moyles related stuff.

Compared to other forums and websites, this forum is run really well and doesn't take a hardline approach like other forums. They seem very scrict unlike this place where the rules are simple.

The Admin has better things to be worrying about and although the site has a number of Mods, its not widely known who these people. Chris has always given people enough chances and warnings, before it becomes a bit too much and as a result bans people.

No, I think disagree, if you have anything remotely decent to offer to a site and are interested in the subject, then no its not full of people with little social interaction skills.

I know im talking with with a large post count, but thats not indication that im a geek that spends to much time on forums. I still have plenty of time to do other things. For Geek - look up Jono Read.

Get people to read the rules, stop being being stupid and actually think before pressing submit.

boboff wrote:Very interested to view peoples opinions on this.

I do believe this is a thread of yours that ive actually spent time replying too.

Perhaps you should have thought about your post before pressing submit Adam, then perhaps you wouldn't have written the word "being" twice.

Adam

Thank you, you make good points, as for typos, who gives a damm, pedantic, and I for one living in my glass house won't be throwing any stones.

I am not a member of any other forum, so I can't comment when we are continuallt told how casual this is, I don't think it is casual, thats why I ask.

Do you know when you get to a point of submission, that's how I feel about this whole sorry naval contemplation ( should I buy another frigate )

It really is the arrogance I can't stand.

door, open...... ok

I don't know if the site is better than it was, I haven't been here long enough. My post count is very high in contrast to the amount of time I have been a member - this probably indicates I spend too much time here, and there are some specific reasons for that which I won't go into now. But in my experience this is a relatively un-moderated forum, although I would agree with Boboff that what little moderation there is can seem inconsistent and arbitrary. But a site like this is the property of an individual, and that individual appoints the people who moderate it - it's not a democracy. I can live with that.

the geek thing is pathetic. its 2006. the internet is a means of communication. i use it to chat to my friends. does that make me a geek? so what ive made lots of posts. all of them totally pointless. arent most people one here doing the same? its not a substitute for having friends its just something to do when im bored.

Do you think the recent proliferation of threads which are totally unrelated to Chris Moyles (not that I am saying threads HAVE to be Moyles-ish, just that there is a high proportion of un-Moyles stuff at the moment) is because he is not on the radio? Or did you all already get that, and its taken me this long to realise? Doh!

the whole "lets get ready to ramble" section is for anything. theres always various crap posted there. ie neighbours related or sport related. the general section is for moyles and radio 1 stuff. obviously with chris not on air at the moment there isnt so much show related stuff to talk about. this forum is (or was) so good because you can go off on a tangent (much like chris himself does) and talk about anything (well within reason). it makes it interesting.

I do think thats is what I particularly like about it - Quincey, are you saying it is less like that than it used to be? You've been here a fair while....?

No it doesn't.

It's really not what I said, or indeed meant.

In my eye a geek is someone who understands compuetrs enough to moderate them and do things that I can't, yes and I know that is a rubbish argument.

Console annoyed me, no one else, and I tarred all of the guys including Chris, out of frustration with his "condesention"

So if you like I take it all back and say this, Console is a Geek.

I know Pathetic.

Forums are a great way to express your feelings without the threat of someone coming to your house and keying your car, well thats if your views are quite controversial, I however try to keep in everyones good books, I dont really like the thought of someone the other end of the UK hating my guts for what I said and not who I am

I think the main thing I've noticed last time I was there (almost 2 months ago) thhere were less threads than before. Granted there are more now, but thats only to be expected with the recent book tour.

Personally I think although there do seem to be less people posting on a regular basis, its possibly better because there's less rubbish posted on here.

empty fag packets

empty diet coke cans

plastic sanwich cartons

chocolate bar wrappers

and some spent matched

Sorry looks likes the rubbish is back.

Tro1, you make some valid points, I have been posting here for a bit, and this post originated from me when I was having "issues" so this is all very painful for me now........

When I joined the agression on here was overwhelming, and that has stopped, mainly due to bag for safety in case it falls off, Hilarious posts calming us all down......

How are you anyway, what interests you, stake a post and let us all have a debate !

PS do you know of anything funny to say about the phrase " a spent match"

Interesting to come back to this one. I remember the agression - still pos up occasionally, but tis fairly controlled, and focussed on people who really, really do ask for it, so its different somehow. It has struck me lately though - especially since Mr Moyles' "clique" comment yesterday, that of the many many many members, there are woefully few regular posters. Don't know if it has always been like that because I haven't been here all that long myself, but I'm sure there were more even when I started. I actually think Chris had a good point with that comment, it might not feel like a clique to us, but I'm sure it looks like one from the point of view of a new member. Which might be offputting.

Well I only joined yesterday...to be fair, it was only to see if The Moyles comment yesterday held water...'they're cliquey, don't go on the forum..'

I wanted to see what reaction I got...no, I'm not fearless, just nosey I guess! I have to say, I jumped right in with both boots, as it were..and so far the reaction has been warm and welcoming! (Early days, though!)

Yud's post ^^^up there prompted me to have a quick look at the archives to see who is posting now that joined ages ago...by the look of things, most people seem to have drifted off into the ether, from those early forum days.

It WAS only a quick and very random analysis, but here's what I found:

Chris...first post: Nov 2000 last post: today (obvious!)

Eddie...first post: Feb 2001 last post: Nov 2006

wannabee-Mrs-Moyles...first post: May 2001 last post: 2004

the-dr...first post: Mar 2001 last post: Feb 2003

Jonny Hoare...first post: Oct 2001 last post: June 2006

Yudster...first post: Sep 2006 last post: still here

saviour of reviews...first post: Jan 2006 last post: still here

boboff...first post:Jul 2006 last post: still here

DemonHorse...first post: July 2004 last post: still here

etc...

I guess my own conclusion will be similar to a lot of others...that forum users come and go in drifts in the main...only a few ever stay the course of time, for whatever reason! I'm here right now...but will I still be here in a year? I don't know...maybe there will be a whole new set of people having a banter then. Enjoy the moment while it lasts!

Hi, i'm new here so can't really comment on whether the site is any better or worse than it used to be.

But as long as people continue to visit and post here, however many that is, then surely it is doing fine. :)
