The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Ever since the "I Don't drink, Chris Moyles rocks" gag started, I've been wondering about it's meaning. Not being british meself (not even close), I don't know if there's some word play involved I'm missing.

Anyway, today Chris was about to explain something about the phrase to Dave and right then my RealAudio had to die (actually it's been behaving rather badly all day  ), so by the time I reconnected I had missed the whole thing.

Can anyone tell me what the phrase actually means, or (at least vaguely) what did Chris explain to Dave?

Thanks...

Well...

A (rather drunk) caller phoned into another radio show on a different BBC Station. He was talking about the England match that had just been played that day and, as he was rather drunk, someone on the show's team asked what time the pubs open where he is. To this he replied "I don't drink...Chris Moyles rocks!"

Chris is now trying to get it to be his new "phrase" with as many listeners as possible recording themselves phoning into and saying it on other radio/tv shows.

Question answered?

:P Yeah, that answers it... I though the phrase had some other meaning, and was thinking of a possible rocks=testicles connection there!

I even searched the web to see if "to drink someone's rocks" meant something 8O

Real audio seems to have off days, but generally works ok for me in the uni library.

I've tried the Radio 1 stream myself when I can't be bothered reaching for my radio, and it's the best-sounding stream I've heard. On the other hand maybe that's because I was listening at 2am... - jc

I'm not sure if my Internet connection has been up to par recently, but I really am having a hard time listening to Mark & Lard and Moyles... (it goes ok for a while, until I loose lots of packets and then eventually goes down and I have to restart it) on the other hand, after Moyles show the stream goes perfectly, non stop, with cristal clear sound. It could be related to internet usage patterns in my ISP, or in the BBC's RealAudio server.

no matter how much i love bob's reviews, and lord knows i read them, they don't compare to the real show, now do they. wocky- i'm convinced the beed was doing something with the stream as i could not get it at home, work, or school. it seems to be doing better now though.

Yeah, they've been trying out different ways of doing it. They trialed it on Windows Media Player for a while. That was ages ago though - dunno if they decided against it, are waiting for something else to happen, or if it's still being reviewed.

it would take quite a long time to dissect everything that happened in the show to get up before 7pm. I put in the important stuff. The idle chit chat and the drink talk aint interesting.

Well, I won't put it as harshly as guest, but I mostly listen to Moyles for the Drink talk... and the sexism... and stuff...

the sexism yeah is fine but the drink talk is so dull
once you heard one you heard them all.
when you heard him say "im not gonna drink anymore", i go "oh frig another boring drink story"

I'm glad the Beeb don't use Windows Media, but I don't think they should use RealPlayer exclusively. Then again my fave Icelandic radio station has switched to WM, and WMP breaks when trying to access the stream. :? - jc
