Do you never take the odd long weekend off? and next time you do we should all go on a forum and comment about why you couldn't have done whatever in other holidays. Chris doesn't get paid when he's off

He will have a holiday entitlement and he is allowed to take all of that... it's really none of our business how he chooses to take it.

Agreed. And when you consider, me, in my lowly position here, gets 5 weeks paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays and 2 days gifted at x-mas... Does it really seem so odd for someone in Chris' position to have maybe negotiated an extra week or so...?

6 weeks holiday, for someone like Chris, seems perfectly suitable. Get over it.

I never take the odd long weekend off. I work 6 days for almost all the year. But I would never support Candymans view on this matter.

Of course I like the CMS to be with Chris, but he has a right to go on holidays, and as long as the bosses at BBC are okay, he can take off as many days as he wants to.
To be fair, I think he is the one on the show who "missed" the least days on the CMS. Tina and Dom have been sick this year, Aled was in Australia (and wasn't he also in holidays during the show or was that another year?) and Dave has missed out quite some shows during the Dancing on Ice Tour.

So let him, even if it's less fun for us listeners.

I get 8 this year...

I don't care why he was off or how much holiday he gets really. I mean it's rubbish when he's off, but I can cope without needing to debate it. It was the fact that Vernon and Dave harped on endlessly about his "long weekend" that bugged me - it made something that probably wasn't suspicious at all sound dodgy.

I think more because he was aloof.

Which is strange, my mum says he was a very nice young man when he worked at the hairdressers.

You can't understand someone wanting, maybe on a whim, to take their parents on holiday?

Come on, I know you don't believe that.

If I could take and could afford to take ten weeks off a year, I would. Without a second thought.

I listened to the Friday show and my summary is:

* Excellent opening link
* Music
* Dominic the Donkey x3
* Music
* News
* 4 seconds of chat
* Music
* Dominic the Donkey x3
* Music

Then I gave up. Was Monday's show any better, or shall I skip it?

Cheers,

Neil.

No it was worse! Horrible X-Factor interview, Dominic the donkey continuing to get shoved down our throats and Vernon and Dave mentioning Chris' long weekend every 5 mins. But I stopped listening at about 8:30 or so but don't think it got better.

To be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of not listening until they come back in the New Year since each show is going to feel the same with guests that I couldn't care less about. Heck, I bet you Olly Murs will probably be in again before the holidays and that guy has been on the show via phone etc about 6-8 times.

It's only cos of the clipboard brigade sayin they can't play Stanta, singing about Donkeys is about as good as it gets, that, and the jingles.

I can't help but feel It's probably safer all round if you don't listen.

When you say you wouldn't be opposed to the idea, is this an argument you have with other people, or just yourself? Surely if you're in any way trepidatious that the show won't be tailored precisely to your requirements, you can just not listen. Rather than floating ideas and then discussing their plusses and minuses? It'll save a lot of time and stress.

Was pretty much saying it to myself. I just don't like this time of year on the show from Dominic the Donkey getting played to death down to the uninteresting guests that unfortunately pile up this time of year to plug stuff and I know it has to be done. Just been the way for me ever since I started listening in 2009. I still enjoy the show of course but not during the November/December months.

That is why I have gone back to 2004 shows that have been put up over in the archive a lot recently and enjoying them more than what is currently on.

Vernon played too much for my liking. Im used to random chit chat and I enjoy the fact that anything can happen when Chris presents. It felt really safe and structured with Vernon.

I skipped Monday's show because they had X-Factor people on and I don't like the plugfest/hype they try and build. Also I don't even watch X-Factor so it means nothing to me.

I actually find the X-Factor promotion immoral.

But I guess it's what people determine to be target, so there must be some cultural, or entertainment value I suppose.
