That is just wrong, how can someone help being who they are? We have a choice to behave in different ways yes, but why should we decide to be something we are not, Should Greame Norton, Lilly Savage, Eddie Izzard, Kenneth Williams, Noel Coward, Steven Fry, Frankie Howard, and all male hair dressers and interior designers change there behaviour to suit your idea of respectable behaviour ?

Respectable or otherwise doesn't come into it, I am not commenting on the respectability or otherwise of any of these people. I'm just saying that I don't understand why a certain stereotype of behaviour is adopted - ie CHOSEN - by so many gay men. I'm not commenting on the rights, wrongs, acceptability or respectability of it - I don't have very strong opinions on any of those things anyway - I'm just saying I don't understand why they seem (note "seem") to feel the need to conform to this arbitrary "social norm".
