The thing you have to remember is the chris moyles show is about the team and they regualarly talk about their private lives, its what makes some parts of the show great.

Now Dave can talk about his life more openingly like he used to.

This is the internet after all.

At the end of the day, Dimon was right I was wrong and I can be big enough to admit that and will probably believe him in the future as he seems alright really, but I won't say I was wrong to be sceptical in the original instance :)

That's fair enough, neither was I at the time...

Just saying that in the future if he writes something, it's worth taking note of :)

I wish Dimon would also reveal himself. He knows far too much gossip that is true to be just a fan. He has inside connections somewhere. Do you work at R1?

You seem a relatively new listener, but over the years Chris and Dave have talked about their private lives on the air every day. We had huge amounts of airtime dedicated to Dave getting married and his engagement, plus he also used to mention Emma on a day to day basis (she's even been on the air herself!). Everyone agrees his divorce is a hugely personal issue, but if he hadn't talked about Emma in the first place, he wouldn't have had to account for himself at all.

Even today he sounded relieved that the news was out, and I think the show will be much better for it. Keeping personal stuff a secret doesn't work on Chris's show - because that is entirely what the show is. The team talking about themselves and their lives for fifteen hours a week.

I heard it this morning and I thought the whole thing was handled with dignity, affection and respect. Sorry it went belly-up Dave, but all the best for the future.

Thanks to Fisheads for his honesty, Russ for his kindness and David for his interest.

The fact that there was speculation about Daves wife in the first place just goes to show that we care about him and the rest of them. I think it was good of them to put it to rest. I hope everything's OK with Dave and he's not been too heartbroken over it all. I know how much hurt the fairer sex can bring :(

Not hearing the show as much as I used to and being on here for the first time in a while, Im genuinely quite shocked and saddened about Dave's divorce. I didnt hear the show yesterday, but having been a regular listener for 8 years now when Chris does "surprises" they're always planned. The classic example was the U2 tickets he gave to Dom and then tore up in front of him. It fooled me at the time, but it proved how he'd already got tickets for Dom and it was just for effect on the air. The other example which is vague when the team bought Chris that present and Dave "dropped" it, but that was a complete fake.

That's not the same though as it was a genuine suprise for Dom and Chris as both involved genuinly didn't know about the gifts they were recieving - although the destruction of what appears to be the gift was planned by the rest of the team, the reactions when Dom and Chris saw it was genuine. This interview yesterday was 100% planned though and Dave knew about it.

I do know what you're getting at though

Yes I take your point, I forgot to mention that they were taken by surprise.

I know of various people who dont listen the show who dont like Chris Moyles etc etc, but regular listeners like us know that the features and surprises like the ones mentioned arent done without being planned. Theyve mentioned several times about being in the office during the day, and aled is day producer isnt he? So the show is always planned. Also I know of someone on another forum who knows both chris and dave, and says that chris is completely different to how he appears on the air.

I do think the show suffers when theyve been away, but thats a whole new debate altogether!

Havijg now heard his announcement on the show one thing did strike me. I didnt realise it was over a year ago and they split, and as a result 1 or 2 things seem rather clearer, Folkface splitting up for one. Dave never gave a real reason for them doing so then, and the timing of it was around the same time. Its interesting that he said he was exploring other ideas now too.

A friend of mine, heard, probably third hand that Dave did his divorce online, i.e using an internet divorce company.

The wierd thing is my friend's mum and dad just got divorced as well last week using a company called divorce online. It does uncontested divorces and in the testimonial section it says they have recenty done a divorce for a well known radio personality - coincidence?

Having checked the website it says in their testimonial section -

Well known radio personality - August 2006

Divorce-Online recently helped a very well known radio personality and his wife complete their divorce in just 12 weeks
