The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I dunno, maybe I'm making more of this - but as someone else mentioned, they've only been back on air for about 6 weeks or so since their last holiday. Fair play to Chris for his TV career taking off and I'd never accuse him of putting TV first above the breakfast show, but this short run does seem to have coincided with two series of Quiz Night in short succession. I even remember thinking when this run started, that it would be a slightly longer-than-usual run until christmas, but it seemed far too short to have another fortnight off inbetween.

Maybe it's just that Chris' breakfast show is by far and away better than anything else, that it's more noticeable when he's away.

Except for the fact that Sara confirmed on her Twitter feed the day after those rumours started, that she had just resigned her R1 contract for another year.

The unfortunate absence of a hyphen in that sentence turns it completely arse over tit.

Chris had 2 weeks off in August and October 2010, and 2 weeks off in August 2009 and 1 week off in October 2009. So this pattern of holidays is nothing new.

OK then, lets put this into the mix... whether Chris' contract allows it or not, put to one side.. Grimmy as a brekkie stand-in? Lets assume Nick is up for it...

I couldn't as I'm only allowed 5 weeks a year. Chris gets 8 weeks, and he usually takes them around the same sort of times each year. Someone said this earlier in the thread, but I can't understand why there are so many comments about it this year, surely he always has 2 weeks in summer and then 2 weeks in October? There or thereabouts?

I'm sure October the team have only ever had one week off not two, thats why I was surprised.

Chris sometimes has 3 weeks off at Christmas/New year depending on when it falls - so say if Christmas was on the Thursday/Friday, Scott would do brekkie leading up to Christmas day and then there'd be a few days of Christmas limbo stuff which last couple of years has seen Dev on Brekkie and after new year a week of Scott before Chris returning the following week.

However last year because Christmas fell on a Saturday he went right up to the 23rd so only had 2 weeks off Dev and then Zane Lowe covered. I'd imagine this Christmas he'd be on until Friday 23rd Dec

Well, I only got the first twenty minutes, then another 15 or so between 7 and 7:30, but I have to say - apart from the ridiculously sickly schoolgirly caller re the Teen awards (and she was a schoolgirl, so its not entirely her fault...) - it was actually ok. I won't be extending those listening hours - I mean minutes - for the next couple of weeks though. Previously when Mills has been on I have been unlucky enough to catch the appallingly awful feature where the Radio 4 woman who they seem to think is posh (she isn't!) reads out pointless emails from gormless children. That makes me want to cry its so bad.

Oh I dunno.. the PR4L is a good feature, but it's like a lot of Mills' show - it works in the afternoon.. but brekkie belongs to Moyles. Mills is still better in the morning - for my 2p - than a lot of the alternatives. But he's not the appointment listening that Chris is. Mind, to be fair to Scott I'm not entirely sure who else is!

No, it really isn't. Unless you really think that making up pointless acromyms - which is really all that happens - is entertainment. However, it seems perhaps they have moved it so I won't have to worry!

Forgot Mills was on Breakfast when I woke up this morning, that was a pleasant surprise :?

Again, it wasn't too bad this morning, because he played records and kept his stupid irritating and criminally un-funny mouth shut! Unfortunately the dire sidekick - is it becky? - was trying to make herself heard, but it could have been a lot worse.

My radio alarm clock seems to have an issue with getting a signal at the moment... so instead of being woken up by Mills, I was greeted by the far better alternative of digital radio crackles. Quite pleasant given the other option to be fair.

I think Scott Mills just screams local radio. It is probably due to the fact he was in my region and my brother and sister still tune into that station and they all sound like him (or vice versa.) Say what you want about about Fearne Cotton (I don't like her either) but she doesn't sound like she is from local radio something all the other Radio 1 DJ's share.

Mills definitely caters to the teen audience. Take him with a pinch of salt and he's quite enjoyable. As is Westwood if you don't take him seriously.

I've just realised that chris and the team are off at the same time as me. We (in the highlands of scotland) also get two weeks off in october

I must be really getting old at 29  as I've tried to listen to him for the last 2 days during various bits of the show and I've turned over to either Radio 3, Radio 4 or my own music within half an hour at most. I just can't imagine sitting through 3.5hrs of him, even Twin B on 1Xtra is preferable to Mills in my opinion.
