The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Both of which indicate an idiot. And as I've pointed out on several occasions, that may not be particularly important in the grand scheme of life, but in the context of the forum it can be most irritating.

Would you for example refer to Keith Chegwin by his full name at all times? Or is it possible that maybe once or twice you've referred to him as cheggers?

For what it's worth I understand the kind of stereotype that you wouldn't want on here, but really are the smarmy comments written on this post really needed? Chris has referred to himself as 'Moylesy' on air when speaking with friends, is it dreadfully unusual for someone who listens regularly to feel familiar enough to use this?

The reason I've commented is not that I don't agree with what you've said in principal. His reference to Chris as 'Moyyysey' doesn't particularly make him appear very intelligent, he may not even be aware that calling someone you don't know by a pet name is a little insulting and ok its clearly been pointed out to him now, but this whole thread now looks unfriendly due to the tone of peoples responses to something which like you've said, in the grand scheme of life particularly important.

If you were new to this forum would you looking forward to posting your views when people reply in the manner they have? If it annoys you so much couldn't you as a moderator choose to avoid this little 'storm in a teacup' by changing his post and politely sending him a pm asking him to use his proper name? Its all a little pedantic if you ask me!

I don't recall ever referring to him as anything to be honest - can't stand the man. But he calls himself Cheggers all the time and even had a TV show with that name in the title. If it was called 'The Moylesy Show', I might let you have that one.

Do you mean it is important, or it isn't? What I said is that while such things are unimportant when you consider the bigger picture, they are important in the context of this forum - they are what it exists for.

When I first joined here I got the same treatment. I got accused of plugging a rival radio show (I have no recollection of what or who) and of being offended on behalf of others because of some complaint I made about Mills. But I quickly learned what is expected on this forum, cos I'm not an idiot, and thus I am still here.

I wouldn't do that cos snazy isn't doing anything that contravenes the rules. It isn't my policy to edit people's posts, apart from fixing broken links, quotes or pics, unless they specifically ask me to. But as Chris (Harris) recently pointed out in the Dave & Jayne thread, we are largely self-moderating here - when people do something that others don't like, they will quickly get told about it, and that's what you are seeing.

1st point ok there are differences in the 2, but to someone that doesn't know better, especially having heard Chris refer to himself as moylesy on air, they may not know that it is a little irritating. I'm sure there are other examples Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie maybe weren't over the moon at being called Brangelina, celebrity's get pet names all the time....Chris may not like people he doesn't know referring to him as moylesy, but it is his most common pet name, I severely doubt that picking people up on a forum for saying it is going to change that.

2nd I meant to write isn't particularly important... Maybe i'm wrong with this, I didn't create the forum, but I would have thought this forum would be for fans of the show and fans of Chris to discuss these. This guy has done this and he hasn't said anything in a derogatory fashion about Chris. We can all say that we find the 'Moyyysey' comment to be rude or ignorant or whatever, but what is 5 people harping on at him going to achieve? The reply's make the forum look bad not the guy who wrote it.

3rd Nothing really to add to that, because I can see both sides, I think that this thread doesn't exactly welcome people to the forum but at the same time, having a certain level of what you expect from people should limit the number of idiots on here. My only point is that reply's like the one's on this post, may be offputting to new people reading, especially If there's nitpicking at the slightest thing? (not that it stops me)

4th Fair enough, editing posts probably would probably antagonise some anyway!

Jesus!

Look, there are bits of the show I could take or leave, 'International Radio 1' by some 5 year old kid, it's not for me, I imagine it's the same for some where mooyyyseey is concerned, different things irritate the ears as they do the eyes, that's life.

If Chris put it to vote whether people like the dentist's drill sound effect and they decided NO then he got rid of it, and so he did, this happened. Theres no telling people to sod off on here for being irritating, and if you object to something then you may aswell turn the place into a pantomime with the villain arriving to deliver his awful catchphrase moyysseeeyy, to a chorus of boos from regulars. Definitely not to be taken seriously, to get worked up simply gives ammunition to those who love to annoy.

Going against the grain gives some people a kick, they know what your reaction is going to be.

For example.............lol

Oh dear, some people eh..reading through this thread its easy to agree with the above^

I got my answer, so I'm a happy chappy :) didn't really want to weigh in again since the whole point of the thread has been sorted..

To be fair I don't really have any problem with it, it's just a stupid way of writing it all the time, anyway life's too short I really don't care that much, I was taking the piss more than anything at first anyway.

Can I be honest and say in the words of Dom: 'I just don't get it'
Moyyysey (or whatever this argument is about) surely should be Moylsey, or similiar. Theres no L in the original. Should there be like a spelling test when you join up on the forum?
Maybe I'm just being padantic... ;-)

I agree. I would like to administrate that if at all possible. :)

I dunno, it would be a tough decision. There are certain people, naming no names *cough snazy biggspuds cough* who I feel would have to fall under that ruling.

I can imagine being a member of that site is massive fun....! A site filled with vein egotistical idiots all pruning and preening themselves. No thanks....

As Mike Skinner wrote, nothing worse than being fit - and knowing it.
