When? The film preview of 2006 and maybe once more I missed. Hardly flooding the schedules.

Kendra's right about Nihal. He's ok, but he's not breakfast show and he is definitely trying too hard. I could see him in Edith's slot, or Jo Whiley's, but he seems too self conscious to be able to be flexible enough for either of the main shows. But that could just be because two weeks ago hardly anyone had heard of him and now here he is doing the Breakfast Show on Radio 1. I can see how that would be daunting.

Someone best tell me when Chris is back (I'm assuming Mon 8 ) because I've also switched to XFM for my morning listening.

I believe it is Monday............ I've switched to 5 live of all things. Although it does allow me to arrive at work on the ball with the day's news stories, and able to engage in some educated chat with my work neighbour Trevor who scoots into work on a diet of Radio 4..

I somehow dont suffer as much as you guys. If Moyles isn't on air i do not listen to radio 1 at all. Maybe sometimes a bit of westwood or colin m. but thats it. There is loads of good stuff going on on tv. Spend last two days getting pissed and watchng planet earth. Briliant!

Absolutely great show!

Sarah Cox is a grower, I like her references to her toddler, and her spot on her lady moustache ! Probably not on message for core listeners though, but she is a nice person

I think Coxy is great, I love her show. She's one of the few people on the radio who really make me laugh.

Sarah Cox has the most annoying voice and seems to talk about her baby in that pathetic voice all day.

I wish you could download the Mark and Lard shows. If only we could have a Radio 1 -10 years digital channel.

I wouldn't say thats out of the relms of possibility... I know World Service are planning to do something similar, but not constant, like an archive, avaliable online...

Oh, to be able to download Mark & Lard would be fab. I missed almost all of their final year as my working hours changed and I didn't have net access at home to be able to listen again. Gutting.

I agree that Nihal is incredibly irritating, altho I didn't hear much of him. During Dec and the first week of Jan I was working offsite (in a portakabin basically) and we couldn't get a decent signal on radio 1, so we went for radio 2. I actually really enjoyed it apart from Jeremy Vine and his 'get angry about something of little consequence to you and then vent your rage via the airwaves' phone-in show. Must be a sign I'm getting old.

I agree with MC, my interest in Radio 1 depends on Moyles. Having been persuaded by an old school mate to listen to Moyles around the time he started the afternoon show in 1998, if it wasnt for Moyles I wouldnt have bothered switching back to Radio 1. The afternoon show was often hilarious and some clips from 2001 that I found on webarchive.org taken from the Moyles page on the old R1 website still crack me up now. In the first couple of years of the breakfast show I never wanted to miss any of the shows, and would always listen baqck on Listen Again. Last year ( however I hardly ever used Listen Again and I didn't always hear the show every day. On the days I did hear it it was normally for no more than an hour and a half max, and for the last couple of months I hardly listened at all. I thought Beep Beep Busters was crap, and when it was axed if there wasnt a guest I often felt like the team didn't always put much effort into the final hour, maybe thinking that most of the audience would have switched off.

Thankfully the show has got to a cracking start for the new year, and I'm now listening more than I have for well over a year, maybe 2 years. The return of CPC and the Celeb BB chat has made the last hour worth listening to again and long may it continue!

Fact or opinion?

How do you know that Chris didn't reach "a" peak in the afternoon shows. We don't know how far he is down the sinusoidal path of his radio career, there may be bigger peaks to come yet.

Nice logic, I like to think I'm always dull despite me always being amusing, and I like to think I look drab, despite me always looking the bomb, oh, and I like to think I'm always female, despite me being male.
