Geeks usually have vast amounts of knowledge. It's just that that knowledge is focussed in one area. See Console's post.

I would hardly say someone who is always learning new things to be a moron. Bill Gates was a geek, and now look at him.

Because you are knowledgeable (also, 'vast' is debateable, not all geeks have vast amounts of knowledge) doesn't automatically exempt you from being a moron in the sense that normal is used commonly as a generic insult, not just to denote someone of subnormal intelligence.

Doesn't the term moron insult someone though because you're saying they're of low intelligence. I don't think it has any other connotations other than that. If you take the term 'Geek' in it's derogatory sense, then it's useually applied to people of higher intelligence, so the term moron really shouldn't be applied.

I think a geek is someone who lives their life online and prefers to only interact with people through a machine rather than face to face. Not someone who happily does both. Its more to do with social skills - or lack thereof - than any intellectual capability I think.

Nae names were mentioned.

But I think it was me and nicola reds convo that he was referring to. I know not.

Yeah, it was me who initially mentioned the jingle so I assumed it was the convo between footloose and I that Moyles was referring to. I groaned and said to my flatmate "oh God, I think he's talking about me." Fortunately (or not) my flatmate was in the bathroom and was a bit deaf so he just said "what?" I didn't bother repeating it...

That would be part of the stereotype that I mentioned earlier.

I don't think it's a black and white affair, there's no real line you need cross to enter into geekdom. I don't think I'm a geek, although I do log on here to chat to people I've never met, I must have some geekyness in me in order to do that but I think it's a case how much of your free time you spend doing geeky stuff, like on-line gaming, reading/writing java script, going on forums, playing world of hobbycraft or discussing any of the above. Luckily for me very little if any of my free time is spent in here, so I don't feel like much of a geek.

There probably should be some equation for a "geek factor" as a function of all of the above in relation to free time/socialising. However I know that deriving that equation will instantly make the deriver....... a geek.

You're not a geek. You're a sex god. The two things are mutually exclusive.

A geek is a Virginal Male, with glasses and limited social skills who suffers from Pubic Dandruff. They like the logical and scientific as it sets boudaries to peoples behaviour, and allows them to justify a superiority through reminding people of the rules. This sis omething they are unable to do in real life. Often there are pre-existing conditions such as Aspergers or Autism, which pre-date but direct this condition. They are always the children of Fathers were over 40 when they were born.

Can I be of any further assitance please
