Well seems to be the opinion that i'm somehow the bad guy for standing up....

I agree he's a bit of a little Hitler with his moderating (well the little I've seen of it) but at the end of the day it's his site and he can run it how he likes. The majority know your opinion, there is no need to point it out at any given opportunity, it does come across as extremely bitter. I agree he seems a bit pathetic but if that's how he wants to be then so be it.

You are not a hero for 'standing up'.

hannahisstupid was briefly banned at that time! She actually seems to have grown up a bit now too!

Out of the 4336 members at UM over 82% have never posted and another 12% have posted less than ten times. Less than 2% of those 4336 members have posted over 100 posts and could be considered regular enough to have their feelings taken into account. So while 3 or 4 members (and as you've only just joined, I fail to see how you came up with that range) is, strictly speaking, about 0.1% of 4000, it isn't really relevant to anything.

Aren't useless statistics fun?

I have briefly been to UM a couple of times - I thought it was like the Stepford Wives, too nice to be true. Made me shudder. And the reason we argue with them and bitch about them all the time is because they think we mean it, take it seriously, get all upset and indignant and bite back - and its fun.

You say that but only a few posts are about the posts here. Most seem to be actually about the trip to Norwich. Unless I've missed a thread or two

No, the people who phone into the Mills show are all actors. Well, maybe not all, but a lot of them.

Yeah, I think maybe actually you're right. Did you hear celebrity growler the other week, the gag was that no-one got the right answer and they were all stupid guesses. Whereas in celebrity tarzan on the moyles show, no one calling up is as stupid. The conclusion: the callers to Mills' show were actors.

Well on that basis Carpark Catchphrase is full of actors too. I know what you mean though

What are the stats for this site Mr Console ?

Zero posts = 54%
Less than 10 posts = 32%
Less than 100 posts = 9%
Greater (or equal to) 100 posts = 5%

Happy?

Good god, Imagine spending time somewhere where the people are friendly and nice to each other? Could you imagine anything worse?

There are some things I can imagine are worse, but spending a lot of time where people are don't say what they actually think because they're afraid of offending one another would be very boring; you need the contrast - without the bad, there can be no good.

NB: I've never really been to UM, so I can't really say what it is like over there, but if it is as you suggest, then it would not be a good place to spend lots of time.

Each to their own! I like and prefer UM but it doesn't mean I don't like to lurk on here and post on the odd occasion.

To be honest, I don't think people on UM hold back what they think. If they have problems with each other they say so I just think on there we do things differently and it works on UM where the majority of us are pretty happy.

This may be a stupid question, but in what way are things done differently?

I don't know what is different exactly but I think it is very apparent that the 2 sites are very different yet they offer the same service.

We all 'get' each other on there as I am sure all of you 'get' each other on here so it is difficult for someone who is not a regular to come on here and feel welcome. I felt welcome on UM very quickly yet have never felt very comfortable posting on here even tho I joined both sites within a month of each other, early last year. I am sure you have members who feel the same.

Maybe it is a type of humor / forum etiquette thing, I notice that the people who have come from here to UM have a different type of forum humor / forum etiquette than we do and bringing to a different forum where it is out of context or where the people are not used to it, it seems offensive, and I am sure those members know exactly who they are. But then if we brought our style of humor / forum etiquette here it would maybe do the same thing.

That's all I mean by we do things differently and I am sure by reading the above waffle you can see what I mean when I say I can't really explain it. Do you agree or disagree in any way? What are your honest thoughts?

I just had a quick glance over your posts here and I don't see any hostility or anything towards you, why is it you feel uncomfortable here? Is it a general atmosphere thing or have I missed something in the posting?

goldengirlno13 wrote:But then if we brought our style of humor / forum etiquette here it would maybe do the same thing.

And I think it has in the past. Certain members from UM have joined up here and it hasn't really gone down well, others get on fine. As far as I can see, it is mostly a clash of personalities.

This thread. though, was started because of something deeper than a simple personality conflict, and I think it's these sorts of incidences that really start the FUD/Flame wars going.

No it's nothing personal at all, no one has been hostile towards me but I just found the people on UM to be friendlier, maybe it is just a case that they are more my kind of people or I get their humor more. Just a general atmosphere I think.

I think your right! It seems the level of hostility is higher on this side than the other and I am not sure why that is. It's a shame cos Scott and Chris get on well it's a shame their fan-sites can't :)

I'm just bored of the whole thread to be honest. I have never really cared less about anywhere else even when people used to have "board wars" (dear god). I quite enjoy the piss taking and randomness on here so I don't need to go anywhere else.

Jono was always an arse though.

Being that way is obviously your homour, it isn't mine but then that's not the person I am. Wouldn't the world be a very boring place if we were all the same.

Each to their own. That may well be your opinion which you are entitled to but it is certainly not mine! It's Jono's site which is run under his rules, if people don't like it they don't need to visit.
