Righto, although I think this should be a Ramble subject, I got told off - show stuff goes in here, so....

From the 0630-0700 link today, how do you lot sleep, and whats your alarm strategy....?

I personally am a side sleeper, can't do it like Dave does laying on his front. I can sleep on my back, but if I do I snore real bad, so try not to. And in regard to alarm, i'm just like Dom, only have one set and I get up as soon as it goes off, first time, no snooze.

I am in that half-awake half asleep state from about 4am every morning anyway so when Dev wakes me up properly at around 6 I just kind of gradually drift awake over the next ten minutes. I hate getting up, but I do it because I have to.

I have exactly the same pillow issues as Chris, and I use my pillow in exactly the same way. I tend to sleep kind of front and side, often, for some reason, with the knee of my upper leg bent up. No idea why. I will sleep like that on either side, but I usually find myself lying on my right/front with my left leg bent.

Is that enough information for you Tim? And why the hell are you remotely interested?!

Just thought it was a typical 'real life' opening link from Chris. Made me curious, figured I'd start a thread. Anything which helps get the post count up from yesterdays miserable efforts.

Wasn't specifically aimed at you, as with our history your the only forum member who I know exactly how they sleep, but thanks for reminding me...

I've got such issues with my sleeping patterns. I find it very hard to sleep without my partner in bed (which is 5 nights of the week) - as I've always had trouble with the time that I get to sleep.

During my later secondary school years I would go to sleep at around 2-3am and wake up for 7am, this went on into University – and that only began to calm down once I moved in with my (then) partner. Now I require a large cuddly panda to fall asleep, but recently I have acquired a hot water bottle (also guised as a panda) which helps, but without a late night tipple it’s a right pain to actually fall asleep.

Edit. I’m now aware that as I haven’t listened to the opening link – I have no idea what information I was supposed to give.

Ooh, good topic, I always find this sort of stuff interesting :)

I'm a very fidgety sleeper - I can't lie on my left side very long cos of my arthritis, so I tend to switch between my right side and front. I also kick the fitted sheet off the mattress and the duvet out of its cover - the bed always looks like a disaster zone.

I often wake up in the night for no apparent reason, although strangely I don't really do it when I'm not at work the next day...hmm. I also suffer from night terrors so I often leap out of bed in my sleep, dreaming that there's something in the room or on the balcony or goodness knows what. They're always worse when my flatmate stays out for the night - must be my subconscious. I sleepwalk so I sometimes end up at the other side of the room, or occasionally in the hallway, having woken myself up by flipping the light on, with no idea what I'm doing. It's confusing.

My alarm goes of at 6.45am and I normally switch the radio on straightaway and snooze til about 7.10, when I have to force myself out of bed. I appreciate that many people get up much earlier, but I still always find it a real struggle. I've been working full time for 13yrs and it's never got any easier for me.

I'm a very fidgety sleeper, I'm sleep on my back, side and in a couple of strange curled up positions I can be allover the place.

I have the radio get me up at 6.30 and just get out of bed, no staying in for 10 mins, just straight out of bed, personally couldn't do the snooze for 10min then up or doing it multiple times like Chris does. Just get up at the latest you can sleep too and then just get out of bed and get dressed.

bingo-bango. Why waste time 'snoozing'... To me, thats just wasted sleep time, set ya alarm half hour later and jus' get straight up.

I have this weird sleep thing, i have got to when i get down to sleep. Start on my left side, turn to my right then back to my left before i can get to sleep. I have 3 pillows any lower and i can't sleep. In regards to alarms, it depends on my mood, if i have to be somewhere really early i can usually wake up before my alarm. If i have to get up at a normal time, i can hit snooze about 3 times then still fall asleep again for another hour if i am not careful. During the time i am asleep i have got myself in weird and wonderful positions, no wonder i wake up with my back killing me.

As a kid my parents would come in to my room and find me sleeping on my back horizonal on the bed with my legs up the wall, as my bed at point was right in the corner.

I have an ironic alarm tone, its Hello Good Morning by P Diddy.

Sleep in what resembles the recovery position, 1 thin pillow folded in half. Alarm set for 20 mins earlier to allow for snooze time. Or an over-elaborate fumble in the undercrackers.

Have the radio on with sleep timer for 2 hours (can take that time or longer for me to fall asleep). Also have to have a fan on low or my head feels like it's roasting (even in winter). 3 pillows lying on my front with my arms underneath the top one sort of propping my head.

2 alarms 5:10 then 5:30, usually awake anyway when the first one goes off but like those 20 mins to relax.

Three pillows.
Alarm goes off at either 06:20 or 07:17 depending on start time at work (07:00 or 08:00)
Straight out of bed into the bathroom for lighning quick shower, swill of mouthwash then out the door, straight on my bike and ride to work.

I cant be doing with snooze settings and all that. It just prolongs the agony. I prefer to just get up and get on with it even though I hate every second of it most days.

I set the radio to come on half an hour before I need to get up and my phone alarm for roughly the time I need to get up (leaving a bit of time in case I need to snooze, which sometimes I do for a bit.)
