Boy Wonder wrote:The BBC pay their wages on the 15th of each month, I only know this because one of the DJs (may actually have been Moyles) mentioned it once and it stuck in my head as it's the same day I get paid.

This does not apply to Chris as he's not employed by the BBC. He will probably put in an invoice each month which will probably go to another department where all the other thousands of invoices the BBC pay each month are sent. If Chris wants paying on a regular day each month he should consider becoming a BBC employee but I assume the reason he doesn't want to be has something to do with tax and it not being deducted at source.

I don't get yuo lot who say not being paid for two months isn't an issue!! Regardless of how much you have saved up, not being paid on the due date for the work you do is not acceptable, on any level, for any reason. I'd consider it a massive insult, as Chris did. Even with twenty bjillion squillion in the bank, its thye mother of all insults. Did your mamma never teach you ' do NOT * with a (wo)mans money'?

You raise an irrelevant point. Once Chris' invoice is submitted, he should be given a due date, be that 7, 30, 60 or 90 days later (whatever Beeb terms are) he should expect it on that date, not a day later. Being an employee is no different to being a 'supplier'. You cannot run a company and not expect to pay for the services you utilise!

If chris has a good accountant he will end up paying less tax by being a director of his own company and invoicing the beeb for what he does, but again this is irrelevant when discussing payments made to him/his company. Late pay is inexcusable. Try telling 'em in Tesco later that you know payment for your goods is due now, but you'll pay up next week..... Same thing.

I was thinking that if Chris did leave his house, he could just stay in a hotel temporarily...

...and on Thursday's show, when Chris is talking to Simon Pegg about Alan Partridge, Chris mentions that Alan is living in a hotel and says as a very quiet aside "just imagine that?", and I think you hear Dave laugh very quietly in the background.

So there you go.
