Hi guys,

On the BBC Commissioning site, there is a chance to bid to produce new Newsbeat imaging. It will start airing in September.

I'm wondering what it will sound like, in my opinion, Newsbeat's imaging has always been good.

Here's the links to the pages and .pdf files

Imaging brief: http://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radi ... t_2010.pdf

What do you lot think? Does the Newsbeat imaging really need changing? What will it sound like?

I think they're sounding slightly out-of-date. It can trace it's roots back to Dec' 2006 when it was first composed. It was then changed into the sound you hear on-air now in Dec'2008. The current re-mix has been in use since January 2009

It does say in the brief you can keep the current theme of the jingles if you like, you just have to change it in some way.

Well, some new voiceovers have gone live, emphasizing on saying 'BBC Ra-di-o-1'. This uses a group of vocalists.

However, the male voiceover changes every 2 years in June, female changes every 2 years in October. Holly started in Oct 2008, and will be due for a replacement.

I wonder if the group vocalists will be the new voiceovers, replacing female/male or both?

It says the Newsbeat jingles will be launched in September. Surely, unless these are male-voiced only, or dry, recording them with the current Female vocalist, would be a waste of money, if a new female voice is launched in October?
