Zane has got three nominations, not two - The Music Programme Award, The Specialist Music Programme Award and The Music Radio Personality of the Year.

If Moyles doesn't win the Breakfast category there is something very wrong somewhere. And even though he doesn't entertain me at all, I hope Scott Mills wins the Entertainment Show category. It's not my cup of tea but loads of people love it, and I want Radio 1 to do well at the Sonys.

Great Western Railway originally. Hence why we have GWR FM in Bristol, aswell as Bath, and a couple other major railway cities.

Strangely, it seems he hasn't been in the nominations for 'The Breakfast Show Award' before - only 'entertainment'. I think it's definitley time he won this.

Yep. The GWR here in Brizzle is part of the Music Radio group, which is where the hit40uk comes from.

Zane got lots of award nominations as he is the best technical DJ in the world.


He can speak and look at a clock going from 0 - 12.45sec and stop speaking just at the point that the 12.45 seconds is up. That is Clever. That wins him awards. it is hard to do.


Chris MOyles takes the piss and has a laugh, and can stop speaking at 12.43 seconds, that in my mind makes him a better DJ, however Sony will not agree 2/100's of a second, thats what its all about.

So guys whats occurring ?

I think Zane (rightly) gets credit because he presents a new music show without alienating those who would be put off by the seriously underground DJs such as Huw Stevens / Mary Anne Hobbs. He therefore has a huge reach and a massive influence on the indie music industry. He's also really good at mixing the songs together and making a continuous flow in the show.
As we know, he can't get the timing right up to the news.

Zane is brilliant DJ. Chris is a brilliant presenter. I hope they both win awards. (Though if Chris wins, we'll probably never hear the end of it!)

I can't wait til Moyles is back on Monday, but what I do is download the podcast every week and not listen to it. That way I can burn them to CD to escape Virgin/Heart/Capital breakfast show on my commute! Not too keen on R1's playlist anyway, so the podcasts are just like the on air messing about I listen for!
