Does anyone find that when they are trying to "listen live", or "listen again", they can't actually hear anything.

I mean, I'm currently sat here with earphones plugged in, and all I can hear is silence. :?

Sounds fine to me. Do you earphones have a separate volume control at all? Can you hear any other sounds from the computer (mp3's, system sounds etc)?

I don't know :? I just stuck the bit at the end of the earphones into the front of computer, clicked the play button, it's saying it's playing, yet there's no sound.

Ah, the front connector may not be connected to the motherboard, try connecting to the (usually green coloured) connector on the back of the computer. If that doesn't make a difference then have a look on the system tray for a speaker icon, double click on it and make sure that the master volume and wave volume are both at full.

You can hear it without earphones, right?

You tried double clicking the speaker icon next to the clock in the bottom right corner and checking nothing is muted?
(Assumes you are running windows)

Edit: Does it show the timer counting?

What I was getting at (as it may not have been clear) is that if you unplug your headphones from the PC, can you then hear the audio from your normal speakers?

No, I can't .... it's OK, I'll try again when I'm in a better mood. I've just been told off for mucking about with wires at the back of the computer. Oops.
