what does the term freelance actually mean. Is it that chris and dave gets a set wage for each show worked. I.e for every breakfast show. He earns a set wage. And for the times he covered jo whiley. When jo was late. Does he get another shift rate. He goes on about that he worked at 10.01 etc. And says it's another shift rate. Also would the 2nd shift count when jo was at glastonbury and she got cut off. And what about when he did the 5 hour show. Would he have got a shift rate or just 2 hours shift pay?

I think it just means that he is self employed, a free agent rather than being employed exclusively by the BBC - although of course he is under contract to them for the Moyles Show and whatever else they get him to agree to. As to the terms of those contracts, well, thats between him and the Beeb really, isn't it?

Its really no different to the way we employ (for instance) the cleaner in my office - she doesn't work for us, she works for herself, but we have given her a contract to clean our building and occasionally do extra cleaning, negotiated separately. See, Moyles is really just the same as our cleaner.
