You know, I'm not sure about this question. I think I'd follow him initially but I'd have to have a listen and see how I felt about the ads. We sometimes have a commercial station on here at work and the ads drive me up the wall, much more than TV ads.

For me its not the concept of advertising or adverts I object to, but the grinding repetition, which is bad enough on TV but a hundred times worse on the radio. I swear there are more products that I have made a conscious decision NEVER to buy because of the damn advert, than I have ever gone out and tried BECAUSE of the advert. Advertising exec-type friend of Mr Yudster says that the problem with low-budget advertisers is that they concentrate on mass product awareness to the detriment of product appeal and attractiveness. I can see that.

All the more reason why the BBC is unique I suppose, you have to have remaining a public service dedicated to quality.

Creativity goes out the window during advert times on whatever medium. I was thinking the other day about how (for example) - 'Safestyle UK' - They've been using the same repetitive commercial for years now, its becoming somewhat intoxicating for the viewer/listener, certainly for me, I feel as though I am the inhabitant of a goldfish bowl whenever I see an old'un. The same clapped out messages of consumerism in advertising is very unbecoming for any station whom are meant to be original/creative/entertaining. Some local outlets cannot even manage that. *Makes fish noises*

I could see Chris Doing the adverts like daddy Warbucks in Annie, that would be funny, rachel and carrie singing the do do do do do's.

Who cares about the adverts any way, they are there so we don't have to pay for the Station.

It makes the world go round you know

Oh and then theres Paul the voiceover guy with his messages of Dog Ship and other doggie merchandise, I do remember thinking that I wished all adverts could convey a message in such a way, but thats not going to happen. (sorry poochies)

Just checked my local radio station - yep, same as before - *static* I think thats because I de-tuned it though.

adverts would destroy any kind of sponteneity in a show also, as everything would have to be structured around them with little room for manouvere. I know the Chris Moyles show has a recognised script, with BBC messages that have to be included, but they do seem to have artistic licence to mess about. It a definate no on th poll from me.

Chris should not join another commerical radio station. The radio station in my town called Pulse in Bradford (Chris' old station) keeps playing really cheesy ads. There is one for Skip Hire with a cheap Ghostbusters theme remake and it really get on my nerves.

....but you'll know where to go if you want to hire a skip. I try and keep away from commercial radio on the whole. The adverts have a habit of seeping into your subconcious
